All she has to do is go to the local police dept or DA where the alleged incident happened and file a report.

Yeah, gee....I can't imagine why a woman wouldn't want to report a rape...

It's a complete mystery...

Obviously this is all politically motivated, right?

It’s now rape?

TK opined earlier that Maryland does not have a statute of limitations for sexual assault. Which means Ford or her lawyer could go to the local police and open an investigation. Why has she not done that yet?

Probably because it involves a Supreme Court nominee. If Kavanaugh did nothing wrong, shouldn't he welcome an investigation?

Would it not be more credible if the accuser actually filed a report with the proper authorities? Then the FBI can follow suit with the local investigation?

It would be more credible if, confronted with an accusation, Republicans showed even a modicum of wanting to launch an investigation rather than blaming the victim and continuing to try to push their nominee.

Nothing entitles Kavanaugh to a Supreme Court seat. If he can't withstand the least bit of scrutiny, he should withdraw.

The FBI has already done an investigation on Kavanaugh. He has already went through 6 of them.

they weren't about this situation. They should investigate these claims thoroughly.

That's not how the FBI works.

Then that's how it should work. A Supreme Court justice that sits on the bench for life is too important to just let an accusation like this pass without investigation.

This is the very reason we have three branches of government and it was wrong for the Supreme Court to make the law like in the case of gay marriage.
The founding fathers knew very well it's impossible to make sure 100% of the time the right people will get the job. You have too much faith in flawed men.

The Supreme Court did not make a law about gay marriage. They ruled an existing law unconstitutional based on a case brought before them. Just like they won’t be able to immediately overturn Roe v Wade like so many are holding out for with another conservative appointment to the bench. A valid case will need to be brought before them.

"Well, no one's perfect. I guess we should just confirm someone accused of sexual assault to the court".

You're not even trying to argue that he's innocent anymore; just shrugging your shoulders and saying "oh well". If Kavanaugh can't survive the least amount of scrutiny, he should withdraw.

Well, I think it's just splendid that there is no methodical, confidential investigation. Instead, everyone who ever went to high school at roughly the same time as the two principal people in the story are making Facebook posts, tweets, and talking to the media. Transparency!

Once again, I want to reiterate what a splendid move it was for Trump to not want a quiet, confidential FBI investigation of Kavanaugh's youth. Instead of being able to prepare a response for the information that would inevitably come out, Trump has elected to find out just like everybody else in the world as people emerge out of the woodwork. Democracy in action.
