What do you think about this question?
Example you get asked '

Why should I be a Christian ?'
'
What good is there is there in any of believing in God?
'
When and where would God ever offer any help because it seems he is not around?

Is there insight on this by anyone who is well mature than thouself?

Why should you be a Christian, what is the point?

If nothing else, one would hope that the point of being a Christian is that it gives you the best chance to get to Heaven. Having said that, when I look at the violent history of Christians, I sometimes wonder if this is true..... As far as God offering direct help to us in our daily lives, I do believe in miracles, but all indications point to them being a fairly rare occurrence.

Appearances through the natural senses can be very deceiving, because God isn't perceived through them (1 Corinthians 2:14). Even his own creation, as wonderous as it is, can seem devoid of him at times. But faith accepts the truth:

Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. Jeremiah 23:23-24

1. There is a creator.
2. We as humans are broken, imperfect sinful individuals.
3. The Creator became human to heal our brokenness.
4. As Christians we are looking to be one with our Creator to heal our brokenness = Christians.

To become a child of God is preferable to being a child of the devil. Being ruled by Truth is preferable to being manipulated through lies. Sight is preferable over blindness.

Why should I be a Christian
I don’t know about you but I just had a sense someone bigger than I was calling me. I didn’t know how to explain it, I then started questioning my identity and who was bigger than myself and where I’d end up when I die and learned about Jesus and His plan of redemption. I understood it and believed it.

What good is there is there in any of believing in God?
Peace, rest, communion, restoration...

When and where would God ever offer any help because it seems he is not around?

Is there insight on this by anyone who is well mature than thouself?
All of the time, sometimes the problem is that we expect God to work how we want Him to work instead of accepting how He decides to work.

Why should you be a Christian, what is the point?
Even though I went through hard seasons of pruning and death to self, I realized that God wanted to strip me off anything that wasn't my identity in Him; lies and behavior that wasn’t part of who I am. It’s like a child who was adopted and he came into a new family with an old identity so the new father is helping the child develop new patterns of thinking to help him succeed and function in the Kingdom. God is like that with us, but He doesn’t force us, He goes as far as we are willing to go. When you grow, you finally realize the huge sacrifice He did for us. I mean, if you were in the Garden of Eden you would've sinned as well. People don’t realize God lost His creation, we disconnected from Him. I have a betta fish and I get to look at it up close and I see how delicate he is and all of its details. Then I think about the human body, how perfect it is and how it grows from something you can only see through a microscope into this amazing living being that can walk, think, talk and express love, not like the trees that they are living and can’t move, but we are the walking image of the glory of God, His ambassadors on Earth So, we sinned against our Creator, we separated ourselves from Him and tried ruling Earth without Him, yet He didn’t want us to die without Him and be separated for eternity when this timeline ends that He created a law so that only He could fulfill it and unite us with Him again. I don’t know about you, but I have so much gratitude that following Him and obeying Him is my thank you to Him.

I have started with: That is a really good question and I am not sure I can answer that for you right now since I do not know your situation. I can talk about why I like being a Christian and we can study together and see what God says about being a Christian.
When people feel they have no problems, desire not to have any changes in their life, then it is hard to convince them to change. You can certainly witness to them, since if they live long enough tragedies will happen.

Good post, thanks.

I wonder if we set the bar too high on miracles and God's help in our every day life. If I ask for God's help to find something and he opens my eyes to see it, why is that less of a miracle then making the blind see? Perhaps we reserve the term "miracle" for that which doesn't happen every day. But if God reaches into our every day life to help, isn't that miracle enough AND a great reason to have a relationship with him?

Why should you be a Christian, what is the point?
It seems that all of these questions need some context with the life of the person asking the questions.

1) "Why should I be a Christian?"
What is this person's view of what it means to be a Christian? Perhaps they don't want to give up their life which they are currently satisfied with. It would mean abandoning their friends, or even a close relationship with someone. Possibly even being disowned by their family. In essence they are RIGHT to ask this question. Even Jesus said to count the cost. Being a Christian means taking up a cross daily and following. Not to be taken lightly.

2) "What good is there, if any, of believing in God?"
This person can't imagine anything good coming from "a belief in God". How did they arrive at that conclusion?

3) "When and where would God ever offer any help because it seems he is not around?"
This one seems to have some built-in context. The person feels that God is distant. Personal testimony of a believer answers this question.

No one should be a christian unless :

1- they believe in an afterlife
2- they believe that sin is real
3- they are a sinner
4- they will give an account for their life at the Judgment before a Holy God
5- they believe that Jesus was a real person
6- they believe the bible is Gods message to man
7- they believe Jesus life, death and Resurrection was a real event in history
8- they believe that Jesus is the only One who can save them from sin, death, hell
9- they believe that they must place their trust in Him alone for salvation
10- they must repent of their sin and turn to God and serve Him all their days on earth

7-10 is a condensed version of the gospel.

hope this helps !!!

Why should you be a Christian, what is the point?

In Bible “Christian” means a disciple of Jesus.

… It was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.
Acts 11:26

And a disciple of Jesus is a person who remains in words of Jesus.

Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, "If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
John 8:31-32

I think only good reason to be a disciple of Jesus is that you love him and agree with his teachings.

It is not about eternal life. It is promised for righteous people:

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Mat. 25:46

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

Why not be a Christian? If I'm wrong, nothing happens. If I'm right, I get eternal life in paradise. Seems like an easy choice.

It should be except we k now from 1 Corinthians 2 the natural man cannot understand the things of God, things of the spirit for they are foolishness to him. God must work in a persons heart first before they will understand and make sense of the gospel.

Why should you be a Christian, what is the point?
To enjoy life to the fullest.
To know the meaning of life, why you are here on earth.
To become who we really were meant to be.
To be restored to your real family.

Well if one has answers the question 'Is there a God? ' then your answer determine whether or not one becomes a Christian.
Only a fool would acknowledge that there is a God and then reject that God.

What good is there in believing in God?

We'll look at where there is no believe in the Christian God, what do you see?
Now look at the west and start justifying everything about the West that sits on Christian principles etc and prove them from nonchristian philosophy and ideas.
