Why is the crucifixion so meaningful when the rise of Jesus means he sacrificed very little?

This is a dangerous assumption that wrongly weakens God's image, makes Jesus look like a victim...

But that's the scandal of the Cross, that God became a weak victim for our salvation.

It is a scandal in the view of those who are perishing (1 Corinthians 1:18), but we do not take the cross to show Jesus a weak victim. (John 14:30, Matthew 16:22, 1 Corinthians 2:8, Romans 5:18, Hebrews 12:2, Hebrews 7:22-25, Romans 8:39, John 3:16, John 10:4).

There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for his friends'.

In my tradition, Jesus is indeed seen as a victim. We should be wary of seeking glory and power, and we use Jesus as an example of this. We see ourselves as both sinner and saint, so we would never put ourselves above those who are perishing. Indeed, at the Ash Wednesday service yesterday, this was driven home quite vividly, that it is only by God's grace that we have life.

Matthew 26:53, John 18:36 and John 19:11 are more examples that show Him not going to the cross as a victim but as a duty of service.

Anyhow, we should actively seek God and not man to author our faith.

those ideas are not mutually contradictory

What does that mean? Don't you think God can work through pastors to give us faith?

You might explain that toward OP for clarification. We are not to debate in this sub-forum.

I meant that we have reached the end of our course of discussion (1 Corinthians 3:7, Romans 14:4). Also consider John 15:2, Matthew 12:36 and Matthew 18:7.

I was instructed not to force your concession, neither may you force me unless you are acting for Him (Ezekiel 3:8).
