  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why is Christianity the right one?

What makes it so special? Why is Christianity the right religion? Most other religions teach people to be good people. Why this one and not something else? Why have religion anyway? They all look the same from the outside. Just different clusters of people unified by beliefs. What is the difference, and why does it matter? It's so illogical.

Answer me these questions. They aren't my questions, but my friends' questions. Please help me. If you know any non-Christians, you know that Bible verses don't work, so don't drop any unless they help proove something logically.

How can you proove Jesus? The Bible is good and all, but what about the hundreds of other ancient texts. And things didn't exactly happen the way the Bible tells. Other texts are older than the Bible. How is this one more right?

Thanks for anything that you can help with answering these questions.
Why is it right...wow...that is a toughy, but i think you are looking for the wrong kind of answer here..asking the wrong questions...no one can proove it...until Christ comes again, it isn't possible...it is a matter of your heart...you either believe it or you don't, and if you don't no one but you can change that...i mean if you want proof you aren't going to find it...sure there is evidence for it, but there is evidence against it too...you have to read the bible and think on it and let your heart tell you...not your head, cause your head will ask too many questions...

*** If God created Adam ("first human"), did all men/women come from Adam? If so, how come our genes are so different?
If you may recall, archeologists, a while back, found this humanoid fossile in Africa that they called "Lucy." They believed, based on some sort of DNA analysis, that she was the original woman from which the current population of the world came from. So the idea that we all come from two individuals isn't all that far fetched if scientists are thinking that way as well.

*** If someone is so busy making a living and never searches for God, and is a loving person, where is he/she going when he/she dies?
You can't be sure, for we are not really to judge someone's salvation. Salvation can happen in the last second of your life (remember the theif on the cross?) provided it is sincere. But if they do find God, the God of the Bible, you CAN be sure where they are going.

I do believe that the threat "you are going to hell" is not from the bible but from radical believers.

(My wife is Christian, and I have read the bible and studied the Christian beliefs, and have accepted them to some extend, but not all yet.) :help:
If you believe "you are going to hell" is only from radical believers, then you weren't paying attention when you read the Bible. Remember the part about the "lake of fire?" That was hell.

*** If God created Adam ("first human"), did all men/women come from Adam? If so, how come our genes are so different?

Are you sure you want to go here? Which genes are you specifically talking about?

*** If someone is so busy making a living and never searches for God, and is a loving person, where is he/she going when he/she dies?

So are you saying they didn't repent? Well, they may be a loving person, but they may also be liars, adulterers, thieves, blasphemers, while being so loving. Will God overlook this because they were busy? What if I got a speeding ticket, could I go to court and tell them I was so busy, I couldn't follow the law, what do you think they'd do?

I do believe that the threat "you are going to hell" is not from the bible but from radical believers.

This I'd chalk up to ignorance of the Bible.

Only if you are a sinner is Christianity the correct path to follow. For those that are perfectly righteous, and are capable of saving themselves, Christianity is not necessary.

If you believe that you have an unlimited amount of lifetimes to spare, then the crystal-clear logic, rationalism and faultless compassion of Buddhism may indeed be a better path. However, for those of us whose traditions and experiences have led us to believe that this life only is our gift, Christ's sacrifice has already freed us from our Karma of our evil deeds, and for that we can be grateful.

For Moslems that are convinced of their own essential goodness and their ability to make the correct choices, Christ's sacrifice is not needed. They and their Jewish brethren have the Law. Their salvation lies in their ability to follow that Law impeccably. For the Christian sinner, however, who realises how far short his or her own behavior falls of even man's imperfect laws, then Christ's path becomes the most rational one to follow.

For athiests, whose very existence is limited to the material plane, salvation itself is a meaningless concept. Friends and family and entertainment are enough, and if not, well then c'est la vie, because that is all there is. Those of us whose goals transcend us, however, are left unsatisfied. We long to drink of the water that eternally quenches our thirst, and eat of the bread that leaves us perpetually fulfilled.

This was the promise of the one who, according to his contemporaries, was raised from the dead.

With the empty tomb ,then, serving as both proof and fulfillment of a the Biblical tradition stretching back through the millenia, we sinners, who are in need of salvation, can be confident in the promise that Christ himself has made.

Only three religions offer historical evidence for defense: Christianity, Judiasm, and Islam.

I would also like to add that Christianity is about a relationship with Christ, and not just a religion.
It's about a relationship with God, but that's cool too.
