Once is an accident, twice is coincidence, three times is a pattern.

In 2016 the DNC offered Hillary Clinton as a Presidential candidate. Even more right wing in some regards to her opponent Donald Trump, and with a long history as a hawk (now going out of fashion), despite spending a lot more on her campaign she still lost.

Now in 2020 we have two candidates, one who can't tell his sister from his wife, and one who wants to spend an unbelievable amount of money turning the country into something he calls 'Nordic socialism' despite Nordic countries stating they don't run the system he says they do.

It's been a four year wait and I really don't understand where we are going.

It is something of a mystery, isn't it?

But one problem for the party is that it really doesn't have much of a farm system. If you could choose any 15 candidates (in order to parallel, more or less, the candidates who ran in the Democratic primaries)...

which would be the "killer" selections? You know, well-known governors with several terms in office under their belts, charismatic Senators, war heroes, and so on?

That's right. And that's why you're left with...Joe Biden, who finally won his first ever primary a few days ago after almost everyone else had dropped out of the race and this is his third--count 'em, THIRD--run at the presidency.

I guess the simplest thought is which of the two, Bernie or Joe has room for improvement.

Pretty obvious it's Bernie.

He should reassess his situation before it is too late:

Despite appearing to be well into senility Joe must be winning not due to something he has but to something he doesn't have - huge costs and extra baggage.

Look at all the X s in Joe's column and he's ahead, and all the changes Bernie wants to make, and despite including the one everyone wants, the healthcare reforms, he'll sink it with other things most people don't want and other candidates can't score points on because they aren't offering those things either.

If you can get one major good thing done in two terms you'll have done more than most Presidents manage.

Focus.

To a certain extent, the DNC has lost it's message. It is so fractured. It is being pulled in different directions from different groups within itself.

Well I'm on the liberal side and I only think 3 of those are good ideas.

But Bernie is about as true to his convictions, however extreme, as anyone in politics today.

He has been a Socialist from way, way back, and the only changing he's likely to be doing is to drop the pretense that he's a Democratic Socialist.

As a matter of fact, he probably sealed his fate a month or so ago when he began talking more, for a change, like an "out of the closet" Socialist. That's when the bloom was off the rose for most of the Democratic voters who by that time had no one else to turn to except Joe.l

That's a pretty fundamental dilemma in politics - that a representative should reflect the opinions of those who elected them, but no one would want a representative who had no principles he would stick to.

There is actually now a known way to solve that quandary, but it isn't to just do a Bernie and run off with your favorite ideology.

He does give a mean press conference without looking like an idiot, but that hardly seems like it's enough of a qualification to actually be president.
Being guv of NY during the Time of Coronavirus and doing a great job might help you with that decision.

Some people would rather have a President that would date his daughter instead of confusing their sister for their wife.
If I didn't have two warnings ....

I know: for grins and giggles, of the dark kind.

Isn't that better than a party that has lost its moral compass?

In my personal opinion - a group that endorsed killing a child in the womb has no moral compass whatsoever.

Come back when you are sensible, please.

Oh, I am sensible, I would never confuse my wife and sister and I would absolutely never announce on national television that I would date my daughter. Morals matter to some people, for others adultery and incest are acceptable.
