This question is for those who know they are not Christians, who have not believed on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, for redemption of your soul.
When someone shares the gospel with you, to repent of your sins, and believe on the Lord Jesus, and trust Him to forgive your sins and save you from hell, what makes you say no?
I know the spiritual reasons, but I would like to know what goes through your mind that makes you reject the message.
Thank you for any responses. :)
Why don't you Believe the Gospel?
Right forum or not --- I know why I didn't receive the gospel personally.
I simply didn't believe that God had done such a things as we see in the scriptures. (In point of fact, I wasn't very sure there was a God.)
I used to tell my wife as she presented the gospel to me something like, "That's a real tear jerker alright. I'd like it all to be true so I could respond. I simply don't believe that the creator of the universe would call a single man from millions and perhaps billions of men, created from him a nation of sheep herders who's entire purpose was to sacrifice them to Him, and have a man be born in that nation, live, and die in a way which all those dead sheep prefigured."
I did not believe that Jesus Christ was the Lamb of God. I certainly could not see that the creator of the universe would become a man Himself and die like a sheep for my shortcomings (as much as I admitted that I needed such a thing to be true).
I simply did not believe God would do such a "silly" thing since He has any number of other remedies for sin at His disposal.
Apparently, God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. In fact, it seems to me, He said something like that somewhere.:)
The things of God are foolishness to natural men and they are not able to receive them. What is needed is a new man altogether - created by the grace of God through no effort of the man himself.
Such a man am I and I will praise God for eternity for His indescribable grace toward me.
