Why does God want me to sink so low?

    Hi friends,

Please read what you see here below meticulously, because it does happen I get answers that are tangents and not what I was seeking for!

It all began just over a year ago with a search for an answer from God. I wanted to know if it was His will or not for me to walk a certain path in life. Important to note here is that only by divine intervention would this "certain" path be feasible, hence my search for His will. I would not be able to drop my initial plans in life until God made it clear to me that this alternative pathway would work.

It didn't take that long for me to receive a very clear answer from Him that it actually was His will. He subsequently some time later confirmed the authenticity of the answer that was presented in various ways, so at this point I am very convinced that what I'm doing in life is God's will for me. Some of the answers He has given me were presented in such a way I can't deny their origin from God. So the possibility of it all being a big misunderstanding is out of the question at this point.

The clear answer I wrote about above was presented in a dream. I was in a big open field and it was dusk. I remember at one point in this dream, God had me look up towards the sky which was laden with stars! But then, for some reason I didn't understand for a long time until a few months ago, God had me look down on the ground. He then made me look up towards the sky again, and this time the stars were all gone! The sky was clear, and it was at this time I was able to see God Himself appear in a way I don't want to describe right now (I want to save all my revelations for my testimony here, once God does what He has promised me to do) and give me what I was asking Him for.

Lately, my circumstances have been getting progressively worse, and it is getting worse day by day. Life is really a big struggle for me right now because I'm basically stuck in life until God does His part in the plan He promised would work. What I'm going through right now is arguably the worst period in my life - the long periods of not hearing anything further from God, the circumstances getting worse, the time running away without me being able to advance in life etc. Thoughts like: "Did God fool me? Have I been tricked by God? Has God forgotten me? Has God abandoned me? Is the enemy right and I - trusting in God - wrong?" fill my head, but I am able to by God's grace to keep on carrying my cross instead of giving up. It's really difficult when your feelings and circumstances are not congruent with what God has promised you.

For a while I asked God what the purpose of this was. "Why is everything getting worse? Why haven't you done your part in our plan yet?" I got an answer not that long ago, and I believe it was a vision God gave me. I basically saw a text in front of me. It read: "One sinks to the bottom first before exaltation and understanding". This explained to me why I had to look down in the dream He gave me, before I was able to look up again and see God show up. This was about 2 months ago, and God has been silent ever since.

I have no reason to doubt that it was God who gave me that answer. It seems like God will let me know why I've had to go through this very toilsome period after the fact, but it would be interesting to hear from you guys over here what those reasons possibly could be. It's really hard for me to find any reason to why God still hasn't done His part yet. Maybe God wants certain events to take place first. Maybe there's still something in me He wants to cleanse. I've been waiting for about 16 months by now in total!

I'm just afraid that the temptations - which have been getting extremely difficult to handle at this point - ultimately will cause me to fall and sin. Alternatively, I may develop something nasty such as bitterness and I don't want that to happen either. It's really, really tough for me guys. I've never felt this low in life before.

I'm skeptical about dreams and visions as a means of God revealing His will to us in the age in which we live. Visions and prophecy were given to make God's mind known before we had the New Testament scriptures. We now have the complete cannon of scripture and therefore the gift of prophecy has ceased 1 Corinthians 13:8. When the Apostle John for instance wrote the book of Revelation, it was through a vision or a series of visions.

I believe we christians are no longer given visions because God's revelation is revealed to us in the scriptures. After the rapture however, there will be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Jews who will once again have visions and dreams as God makes himself known to them. Acts 2:18

It is a shame you didn't share with us what this "path in life" is as we may be able to better deduce for you from scripture if it is in accordance with God's will.

Do not get skeptical, do not do anything except what you are doing. I think the problem here lies in Principalities. Try this. This video will give you some insight about some of the things that may be in your home keeping. you from attaining that next level or blessing. Give it a consideration and see if this works.

All spiritual gifts remain in effect until Jesus returns and they are no longer needed.

At Pentecost Peter said what was happening was what was to take place in the last days, when God will pour out His spirit on all flesh, and sons and daughters shall PROPHESY and old men will dream dreams.

He also said the gift of the Holy Spirit, which includes Dunamis power, Acts 1:8, is for all who are afar off, even for as MANY AS GOD SHALL CALL, which means as long as God still calls anyone, those gifts will not end.

Furthermore, in your 1 Corinthians proof text, you need to notice that three things end at the same time, when that which is perfect comes - tongues, prophecy, and knowledge - yet in the last days Prophesy increases as God pours out His spirit, per the Acts 2 passage as cited by Peter, and in the end times knowledge increases, says scripture- and we are in the midst of a huge knowledge explosion.

Since all three end at the same time, yet two of the three increase in the last days, and end times, then tongues is for today and won’t end until prophesy and knowledge do.

Your other hint at what that which is perfect is that’s to come, is when it comes, we SEE FACE TO FACE.

It’s talking about seeing Jesus face to face when He returns, and spiritual gifts will no longer be needed.

You know, most of the time, we just apply the wisdom, truth, spiritual principles and commands of Scripture to the choices that confront us in life. Sometimes, though, God has something unique, something special, He wants to do through us. In the record of Scripture, God always acted to communicate His will in such instances VERY clearly. Think of the Exodus and Moses and how God acted in that situation. He left absolutely no doubt what He wanted done, how it was to be done, and who should do it. The same was true of the story of Gideon, and of God's dealing with Abraham, and the business with Jonah and Nineveh, and so on. God used overt, direct, unmistakable means of communicating His will to people: burning bushes, angelic visits, fleeces, prophetic pronouncements, visions and dreams, voices speaking out of the air, etc.

My point is that if God has directed you into a very particular line in life, He will do as He did in Scripture and make His will as plain as the nose on your face. No guessing, no wondering, no uncertainty. And this is necessary; for when God intervenes this way in someone's life, it is because what will result will be very difficult and they will need rock-solid certainty God has directed them into the difficulty in order to persist in it. Think of Paul's Damascus Road experience. It was dramatic and memorable; God was extremely direct in communicating with Paul. And when Paul obeyed God's direction, he suffered severely. So did the other apostles, each of them enduring persecution and, eventually, execution (except John who was boiled in oil but survived). Moses suffered, too, leading the stubborn, foolish, disbelieving Israelites out of Egypt to the Promised Land. Many of the OT prophets of God were murdered by those to whom God sent them.

Many Christians today mistake superstitiousness for divine communication. These believers look for coincidence, peculiar repetition of things or events, sudden peculiar impulses, and so on as instances of divine guidance. But God did not direct people this way in Scripture. When God had something He wanted to communicate to someone, He never failed to do so - even when they didn't want to hear from Him. And so, if you don't have crystal clear, overt direction from God, I doubt very much God has spoken to you directly. He is not, after all, the Author of confusion, as Paul wrote (1 Corinthians 14:33), but the God of truth, clarity, and reason.

You're not hearing from God? What about the will of God expressed to you in Scripture? (2 Timothy 2:16-17; Psalms 119:105; 1 Peter 2:2) Are you not to be living in obedience to it every day? You are not "on hold" with God; you are still to love others, to serve the Church, to be holy and faithful, to evangelize the lost and make disciples of them, however long you must wait for the fulfillment of what you believe God wants to do specifically through you. Almost twenty years passed from the time of Paul's Damascus Road experience to the point he took up fully his role as an apostle of Christ to the Gentiles. Did he just sit around for nearly twenty years, moping, waiting in frustration for God to whisk him into full apostleship? No. Paul was learning and growing in his faith, deepening in his walk with God, being prepared by God as a "vessel fit for the Master's use." So, what about you?

By the way, the "cross" all believers are called by Christ to bear (Matthew 16:24-25) is not a difficult situation or thing - a bad back, or annoying neighbor, or some trying circumstance - but a life of self-denial, a life of death to Self. Jesus explained this very clearly:

    Matthew 16:24-25
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.
25 "For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

The cross is a symbol of death, a place where, spiritually, the Christian lays down their life for the sake of Christ, denying themselves totally as a "living sacrifice" (Romans 12:1). Taking up one's cross, then, is far, far more than merely putting up with an irritating situation. Until you properly understand this, I don't see how you'll be much use to God; for this truth is central to the believer's walk with - and service to - God. (Matthew 10:37-39; John 12:24-25; Galatians 2:20; Galatians 5:24)

Why are you looking for answers in such subjective regions? God tells you what His will is in His word, not in some odd "vision" or dream you think He gave you. Satan counterfeits God's voice as much as possible, luring believers into a highly subjective - and very easily manipulated - approach to understanding God's will. The more you rely upon these easily faked communications from God for your "marching orders" from Him, the farther from God you're likely to be led by the devil.

But this simply reveals how unprepared to be used by God you really are! God needs rock-solid, spiritually mature, scripturally well-versed servants who are living submitted, holy lives in joyful daily communion with Him, not impatient "milk drinkers" with a tenuous hold on the moral character of their living.

    Hebrews 5:12-14
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.
14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.

Often when we receive a word from God, we go through a period of testing first, before it manifests in the natural.

Joseph in the bible is an example, God gave him dreams that showed him that he would one day be in a position of rulership, yet he was in the middle of the vision coming to pass sold into slavery, and even imprisoned. He too would have felt like God was mocking him, a slave and in prison, yet with a vision that told him he would rule. Yet Joseph held onto his vision and ended up ruling second only to Pharoah.

Abraham was told he would have children as numerous as the stars, yet when he did have a child, God asked him to sacrifice his son, Abraham would have thought he had lost it all. Yet as he lifted the knife, God told him to stop. God told Abraham He never intended for him to kill his son that He was only testing his obedience to God.

Promises often have a testing time. Hang onto God, regardless of what seems to happen to your promise, for God will bless you if you can remain faithful.

Most people just do what they think they are able. But if the job or whatever you are in is too much right now and you are waiting on God to make you more powerful through dunamis, then you are in a world of hurt. Entrepreneurs fail often before success. You think God is going to get you a loan or make you stronger? You think you can’t step back and regroup this time around? I hope your not on the prosperity doctrine. Most of us are little guys with big dreams. I guess if you are waiting it won’t end till it ends. God wants us to be rich in faith, the poor actually. Sorry if I seem negative or off the track or if your in too deep. Jesus loves you.
