The OP title is a quote from answers in Genesis

"“Why do intellectually superior humans have around 7,000 distinct languages?” queries evolutionary biologist Mark Pagel. Pagel heads a team searching for an evolutionary explanation for our many languages. The biblical history of the dispersion from the tower of Babel indicates that diversity of language emerged from the area of “a plain in the land of Shinar.”

Tower of Babel

The simplest and best explanation for languages and where man started is the bible!

Another interesting fact is how major kingdoms started at Babel, Babylon was started about 13 years after the birth of Peleg according to AIG! Then Egypt some aprox 60 years after Peleg's birth! This makes sense since Egypt is further away. Then even further we have Greece, which the same article says got going about 160 years after the birth of Peleg. Finally, the article places the tower of Babel at the time when Peleg was five years old!

In the Days of Peleg

The best and most accurate answers are in the bible about creation and history.

Origin of language.

The only real problem is that there is no direct evidence of what the original forms of communication were, the proto-lingua if you will.
The only thing we know for sure is that there was no Tower of Babel.

All animals have some language skills. Man's are very advanced and symbolic.

I can't prove a negative claim. Prove that there was one, without simply quoting the Bible.

There you go then, a stand off as expected, and FWIW, I wasn't the one who made a claim so I need prove nothing..

There are people that will not believe you unless you can prove it.

I don't want a standoff. I want you to show me that my claim, that there wasn't a tower of Babel, is wrong, and I'd like it without people just quoting a Bible verse and going "Here!".
Can you show me that I'm wrong?

You may not want one but that's probably all your going to get.

I don't think your paying attention. Can you show me your claim is right?

I think that the only source for the tower of Babel comes from the Bible, then yeah, I'd say my claim that it didn't exist is pretty spot on. So, how am I not paying attention if I'm asking for non-Biblical sources?

No sense in repeating myself.

I think that it is buried deep under the ground now, due to tectonic activity around the time of the tower. How can you say it never existed, did you consult a psychic?

Right, never thought of how some folks actually believe there is some relation between animals and man. That is so ridiculous I never really considered it in actually thinking about the past.

Because there's no evidence of the tower having existed. And saying it's buried because of tectonic activity 'around the time of the tower' is a pretty bland copout answer.
