Hi all. I'm sure there have already been a lot of comments about this topic in general on a multitude of other social media platforms so I'd like to see how people respond here. The video I've posted suggests that, for the most part, the real issue is greed.

A lot of professing Christians have suggested that abortion is their big issue. This sounds like a rather noble cause, buuuut they also say that he's good for the economy, which is just another way of referring to money. They support him because they believe he is a means to greater wealth even if they do dress it up in what sounds like normal, ordinary support for the economy.

Because of this, they're willing to overlook his comments about how he could murder people in the street, the recordings of his bragging about being able to get away with sexual assault, the recordings of him acknowledging that covid-19 is worse than the flu and that it is airborne (which would warrant masks) all the while he's telling the public that it is not dangerous, that there is no need for masks, and that it would magically disappear.

No one ever wants to say that they love money, and yet a whole lot of money loving still happens and I believe this willingness to overlook so many glaring problems is evidence of that.

The video is a little over 13 minutes long. You don't have to watch it (of course) but it does go into more detail than I have here, which could help to better inform your responses. Either way, I'd like to hear what you all think.

We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?

Reminds me of this video. Money is what it's about for sure.

For the same reason Blacks and minorities support the left. They are necessary as allies for the vote (and thus catered to)... BUT serve no purpose other than to keep a nation divided while those who prosper and run it, finance both sides. (I wonder if there is a tax incentive to keep the game alive and keep people distracted, convincing the people governments are for the people while the real players know no patriotism).

Daniel Daring; the YT poster; has all of 3 subscribers and 12 views on this video; don't you think maybe you could find someone a little more...popular.
I'm not for Trump, but there maybe a reason this guy is not pulling in more viewers.

Hi Mnorian. I understand your concern, however, it's not the messenger who is important, but the message. I'm hoping to get some good discussion going despite my lack of popularity. :)

Hi Michael. Thanks for posting. Would you mind offering a brief summary of what the video is about?

To answer your question, probably because he's not attacking them. That's a good start. For any politician really.

But there is another side to this that -if for no other reason- I support Trump. I don't like people being wrongly accused, incessantly lied about, and in general treated poorly. I''ll give you some examples:

    Hyperbole.

He never did any such thing and that is yet another lie people say about him. In the recording, and I certainly don't approve of it but it happens, Trump brags about how some women will allow famous people to get away with such behavior. He even said "they'll let you". When someone lets you do something there is consent. It's literally saying "they consent to it". A sexual advance on a woman with her full consent is not sexual assault by any definition. So to accuse him of sexual assault based on the recording is a lie.

It was the scientists telling us not to wear masks. Even Anthony Fauci, the purported scientific expert, told us publicly that it was nothing to worry about. It was Peter Navarro -a political appointee- that was ringing the alarm bells in January. Do we listen to the scientist or the political appointee?

As far as the Evangelicals go, I don't speak for them. But perhaps next time you ask a question in a General Politics forum it would help if you did not spread "misinformation" while you're doing it.

Trump as an alternative is solidifying simplky because of the increasingly obnoxious behaviour of those supporting the left or the attitude of some key players we see in hearings and the like. Of course if the attitude of most of American society is now to act like this I guess it is a moot point and will not effect the outcome. It seems the people have a choice of arrogance vs obnoxious. Either way an election should not be based on the emotions of the people. It is not right to take advantage of the ill.

That's far from the truth. "What's good for the economy" means what's good for all people, the small shopkeepers, students, retirees on pensions, blue collar workers, immigrants, shoppers, and people hoping to buy their first house. Almost EVERYONE is adversely affected by a bad economy (which is what we had under Obama-Biden).

It's a music video by Serj Tankian, it depicts how America sold its freedom away. The part of the video that reminded me of what you said was the priest drawing a money sign instead of the sign of the cross.

Careful. you'll blow the cover of the real leaders who fund these political parties. Like the moneychangers who used the Temple for their own gain.

Abortion is the main reason why evangelicals support Trump. As far as I'm concerned any Christian voting for pro-abortion Democrats should be disciplined by the church. Having said that, I'm not convinced voting for Trump shouldn't be grounds for discipline in the church as well.

That may be correct...the "main" reason.

But a closer look also will show that there are others. Freedom of religion is a major concern, and Trump was on their side there, too. It also was important to Christians that the president was unafraid to speak favorably and in public about Christianity, not taking the negative or strictly secular stance that so many other politicians take.

Put all these together, and then compare what the alternative offers, and it's no wonder that most Evangelicals support Trump.

Will he or the right be willing to lose that base by doing something about it? Promises are cheap but delayed action over decades is profitable.

The abortion issue is mainly in the hands of the courts, like it or not. So what has Trump done about that? Appointed three new SCOTUS justices, all of whom are considered to be pro-life.

    That isn't just cheap talk.

Again what good would it do for the right to destroy 50 years of gaining votes over an issue they created in the first place

Trump's flattery doesn't change the fact that Trump's views and life are decidedly anti-christian. This is a man who has said he sees no reason to ask God for forgiveness. That ought to be disqualifying as far as Christians are concerned. That it is not betrays the theological ignorance and cultural depravity of the American church.

    Ridiculous

Just because we don't want the bottom to fall out of the economy, doesn't mean we love money, or are greedy.

Who doesn't want their country to thrive? Sad to be so needy for something to throw at the right, we have to make something good seem bad.

You're entitled, as they say, but it's not at all surprising that Christians should find him preferable to what the opposition has put up against him. Not at all.

This doesn't mean that they are prepping him for sainthood or about to name churches after him. He's plainly taken actions that have been beneficial to their cause, which is what most people want out of a political leader, and this is what I explained before.
