  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do Christians have trouble with accepting Evolution?

I wish we wouldn't drag this carnal worldly junk into our biblical studies. WE only add more carnal things rather than spiritual ones. I don't need to agree with the world because they will never agree with the resurrection anyway. My mind is set on spiritual things, not worldly things, and its a constant battle at times to remember that. Politics, science, and other forms of mans wisdom and religion, these things are not spiritual. Not that science is wrong all the time, but when it comes in conflict with spiritual things then its time to treat it as rubbish. Our fight is one of faith, and it spiritual not carnal. Our weapons are spiritual as well. I would take the spiritual word and slay this carnal monstrosity known as ToE. Treat it like Goliath and kill it. ITs only a giant who mocks God In the end, its like a deep pit, a harlot, and all who go there reside with the dead. Do we want faith? Look at spiritual things rather than carnal. Set your mind on things above, not things on the earth. Colossians 3, Philippians 3

Should our Lord tarry, opposition to evolution will fade away in the face of its clear and obvious truth as did the notion that the earth is stationary and the sun goes around it as the cause of day and night.

Ironic that some think we evolve in the flesh, and set their minds on things of the flesh. You reap what you sow.

19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Because the idea of evolution flies directly in the face of plain, scriptural truth. The animals were created "after their own kind," not as a long chain of creatures coming forth from other creatures.

Sickle cell anaemia.

You sound like one of those pharmaceutical ads on TV where they list one marginal benefit for their product and then disclose the potential life threatening side effects....lol

Seriously, the best you can come up with for a beneficial chromosomal defect is one that has a marginal effect on malaria?

Here's from the CDC

Only in some individuals do malaria episodes progress to severe life-threatening disease, while in the majority the episodes are self-limiting. This is partly because of host genetic factors such as the sickle cell gene.

Here's the supposed benefit for being blessed by this defect...

Sickle-cell disease (SCD), also known as sickle-cell anaemia (SCA), is a group of genetically passed down blood disorders.[1] It results in an abnormality in the oxygen-carrying protein haemoglobin found in red blood cells. This leads to a rigid, sickle-like shape under certain circumstances.[1] Problems in sickle cell disease typically begin around 5 to 6 months of age. A number of health problems may develop, such as attacks of pain ("sickle-cell crisis"), anemia, bacterial infections, and stroke.[2] Long term pain may develop as people get older. The average life expectancy in the developed world is 50 years.[1]

You're not making a good case for your theory...

Dinosaurs are supposedly millions of years old (supposedly), and they find fossils for them, yet they cant find missing link fossils anywhere. WHat they do have are not actually missing links.

Every fossil is a transitional fossil. This concept of "missing links" is fundamentally flawed.

You are a transitional organism between your parents and your children, if you were found fossilized millions of years from now you would be a transitional fossil.

Want a fossil of an organism that demonstrates how some fish became adapted to life on land? We have those:

A few things... Evolution is not a religion. It is not a belief. It is a scientific theory. That is not a guess. It is hypothesis supported by the data. And the data is massive. From all different areas of science. We know far more about evolution than we do about gravity. Evolution is a fact. That isn't taken on faith, it's not a belief. Life on earth evolved and it has been observed. Why don't Christians accept this? Many... most of them do. Only those that do not understand evolution deny it. But, then again, only those that do not understand science deny it. It comes down to wanting the Bible to be an infallible resource on the answers of the world. There's no evidence to suggest that it is.

Please share some evidence, any evidence, that show us one domain, one kingdom, one phylum, one class, on order, one family, one genus that transformed into another.

The ability to do this leap is essential to the evolutionary model... without it, it is only a fairy tale that is "millions and millions" of years old.

I put out this challenge to every believer in evolution.... show us the evidence.

I've read this before. It's a cool fossil but it's not what it first was thought to be.

The forces against our religion are delighted to make some Christians defend nonsense and thereby cause others to think poorly of the religion itself. They are equally delighted to make some atheists think they would have to check in their brains in order to accept our Christian religion. It is wrong to align with those forces.

There is no statement in the Bible claiming that Moses wrote the Pentateuch.
  • Passages in the Pentateuch itself:
    • Exodus 17:14 "Then the Lord instructed Moses, 'Write this down as a permanent record...'"
    • Exodus 24:4 "Then Moses carefully wrote down all the Lord's instructions."
    • Exodus 34:27 "And the Lord said to Moses, 'Write down all these instructions, for they represents the terms of my covenant with you and with Israel.'"
    • Leviticus 1:1 "The Lord called to Moses from the Tabernacle and said to him, 'Give the following instructions to the Israelites...'"
    • Leviticus 6:8 "Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Give Aaron and his sons the following instructions...'"
    • Deuteronomy 31:9 "So Moses wrote down this law and gave it to the priests."
    • Deuteronomy 31:24-26 "When Moses had finished writing down this entire body of law in a book..."
  • Passages elsewhere in the Hebrew Scriptures:
    • Joshua 1:7-8 "...Obey all the laws Moses gave you."
    • Joshua 8:31-34 "He followed the instructions that Moses the Lord's servant had written in the Book of the Law..."
    • Joshua 22:5 "...obey all the commands and the laws that Moses gave to you."
    • 2 Chronicles 34:14 "...Hilkiah the high priest...found the book of the Law of the Lord as it had been given through Moses."
  • Passages in the Gospels which show that Jesus and John the Baptizer believed Moses to be the author:
    • Matthew 19:7-8 "...why did Moses say a man could merely write an official letter of divorce and send her away?", they asked. Jesus replied, 'Moses permitted divorce...'"
    • Matthew 22:24 "Moses said, 'If a man dies without children...'"
    • Mark 7:10 "For instance, Moses gave you this law from God..."
    • Mark 12:24 "...haven't you ever read about this in the writings of Moses, in the story of the burning bush..."
    • Luke 24:44 "...I told you that everything written about me by Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must all come true."
    • John 1:17 "For the law was given through Moses..."
    • John 5:46 "But if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me because he wrote about me. And since you don't believe what he wrote, how will you believe what I say?"
    • John 7:23 "...do it, so as not to break the law of Moses..."
  • Passages elsewhere in the Christian Scriptures:
    • Acts 26:22 "...I teach nothing except what the prophets and Moses said would happen..."
    • Romans 10:5 "For Moses wrote..."
Nope. Not a thing that says Moses wrote the Torah.

Cute name but what do you or the dude that dug this guy up know about his existence? What is this pile of fossilized bones demonstrating for us? Is this his sit command or his stay command... either way great job. o_O

Really, can no one see the sham of digging up some bones you've never seen before and concocting a back story for it like it came with a biography etched into it.... come on! God gave us intelligence to be able to discern this kind of stuff.... I've got a cabbage patch kid that got a great back story too... maybe he'll be a 'transitional fossil' in a million years...

Good grief.

This garbage has no place in the Church. We are exhorted to mind spiritual things, not earthly things. Its the same with politics as well, and politics are worldly garbage. If we all minded that rule we wouldn't need to check our brains at the door because we instead will have crucified them, just as we are supposed to do. The wisdom of this world is foolishness, because God has made it so. We put on the mind of Christ. The spirit of this world is warring against us. We must be holy and separate ourselves from this world altogether. Thats how we sow to the spirit instead of the flesh.

When we join the kingdom of Christ, we separate ourselves from the world altogether. We no longer follow its politicians and its wisdom, but we put on the mind of Christ instead. Its not popularity content. We dont join the Church to become friends with the world. We do it to flee from the world and escape Gods wrath that is against it. Its a serious thing, not to be taken lightly.
