As I was searching around the net, I actually stumbled across a few verses, that Dr. Suess wrote about the beginning of the life of the Grinch. These lines were actually pulled from the story, because he decided that he wanted the Whos to all seem wonderful and loving. But these lines show us a different side of the Whos!
In a tiny town called Whoville,
There lived two little Whos,
The dad's name was Bill and the mom's was Sue,
They had a Who-baby, who's hair was bright green
Sue hid him away so he wouldn't be seen
He started to get older, he started to fuss
The neighbors all wondered what caused such a muss
So the two little Whos,
Who-Bill and Who-Sue
To the mountain they took their little baby-Who
In the snow of the mountains they left him that day
Then they moved to Bernardville, far, far away!
Alone in the mountain lived this little Who-boy
Without a Who-friend, without a Who-toy
In the snow of the mountain, without even a phone
His heart started to turn as hard as the stone.
Perhaps if the Whos new this side of the story, they would have been a little more sympathetic!
At least now maybe we can give the poor little guy a break.
Maybe instead of calling him "the Grinch" we should call him "the Neglected!"
