Why did God banish Adam and Ever from the Garden?
From my understanding, to protect the Tree of Life. God didn’t want them to eat from the Tree of Life while they were sinners because we needed to be redeemed through Jesus first after the fall.

Why did God banish Adam and Ever from the Garden?

Genesis 3:22 "Then the Lord God said, 'Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the Tree of Life and eat, and live forever--' therefore the Lord God sent him out from the Garden of Eden."

God has no intention of having man live forever in his sinful condition. That must be prevented as soon as possible. Thus man must be expelled from the Garden ASAP.

Hope this helps!

A non-literalist reading of Genesis might say that if you believe in a Just God ruling over the universe, and then you see so terrible a thing as death in that universe, you might come to think of death as a punishment of some kind to reconcile those two matters (a Just God in a universe of mortality).

Making it a mythological story where a culture is seeking to explain their universe to the next generation, with mortality hung upon the unquestionably rebellious and egotist nature embedded in humans. Making it both a useful story to teach mortality whilst also presenting a morality as well.

All of the above?

The fall was rejection of God's commands. That makes mankind a rebellious enemy of God. And God tolerates not an immortal, eternal enemy. If God can defeat the serpent dragon Satan, how much more mankind??

Hence God expelled Adam & Eve from paradise, and began a plan to "salvage the situation" and save mankind through Christ. Those who acknowledge Christ as God's salvific Messiah will live forever in the new heavens & new earth of "Eden 2.0" so to speak (after "earth 1.0" is destroyed in cosmic fire).

Note there is some connection between the "tree of LIFE" and "EVE", both being related words meaning "life" in Hebrew.

So, bereft of the Tree of LIFE, Adam called his wife EVE/LIFE. As if Adam sought to substitute EVE for the Tree of LIFE??

Note, it is only after that that God then expels them both, enacting the "Christ Salvation Plan" which culminated in the Cross and will end with the destruction of "earth 1.0" as of Revelation 20:10.

In Genesis 2:16-17 God warns Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or else death. He had a choice either to listen as instructed or follow Eve who chose to not listen as she was tempted by Satan (Genesis 3:2-4). After being tempted to sin they had spiritually died as they we're no longer of God (Genesis 3:6-7), so before they could eat of the tree of life God sent them away cursed for their sin including physical death (Genesis 3:17-19).

If you're interested here's a blog which has videos reading Genesis with short commentary simple to understand: http://thebeginnersbible.blogspot.com/ (Part two has comments too, where the blogger answered my questions in detail about this.)

Good post.
Yahweh also put a cherubim and flaming sword to protect the garden:

Genesis 3:
23 And Yahweh 'Elohiym is sending him away from garden of Eden to serve the ground which he was taken from there
24 And He is casting-out/גָּרַשׁ (garash)<1644> the 'adam, and he is dwelling from east to garden of 'Eden, <ath>
the cherubim and <ath> flame of the sword, the one turning itself to guard of/keep way of tree of the lives.
[LXX] Gene 3:24 kai ecebalen/#1544

The only other verses I could find with "flame and sword" are here:

Daniel 11:33
“And those of the people who understand shall instruct many;
et for many days they shall fall by sword and flame, by captivity and plundering.

Nahum 3:3
And the flame of a sword, and the lightning of a spear, And the abundance of the wounded, And the weight of carcases,
Yea, there is no end to the bodies, They stumble over their bodies.

In the NT, the greek word #1544 is used for "casting out"

1544. ekballo ek-bal'-lo from 1537 and 906; to eject (literally or figuratively):--bring forth, cast (forth, out), drive (out), expel,

The exact form of of #1544 occurs in these 2 verses:

Galatians 4:30
But what is saying the Scripture 'be Casting-Out/ekbale <1544> (5628) the maid-servant and the son of her,
for not no shall be tenanting/inheriting the son of the maid-servant with the son of the free-one.

Revelation 11:2
and the court, outside of the Sanctuary, be Casting-Out/ekbale <1544> (5628)! out-side, and thou mayest not be measuring her,
that it was given to the nations, and the holy city they shall be trampling forty and two months

Michael Heiser "Angels" states that cherubims with flaming swords are a special kind of angelic being.

Without having eaten of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, Adam and Eve were completely naïve and incapable of sin but their natural curiosity led them to eat of the tree. Suddenly they became morally aware. Our mythical first couple graduated from animal status into to fully self aware human beings capable of making moral judgments in a real world. They were now adults, the Garden was for children.

I can't agree with any of this. Nothing here is biblical.

The bible does not say they were naïve nor incapable of sin and they did not eat of the tree due to curiosity but Eve was deceived by satan and she gave to Adam. They also were not "mythical" nor were they like animals and farming and taking care of the garden is not work for children either. They were adults in the garden.

I have pointed this out before, Satan is not a character in the Genesis story. It was the second-century Christian martyr, Justin of Samaria, who was first to argue that Satan appeared as a serpent to tempt Adam and Eve to disobey God.

That doesn't address any of the incorrect things you previously posted. It only adds one more thing that needs to be corrected:

Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

Satan is that same old serpent, the one in the garden and this was written by John, told to him by Christ and that was long before the second century.
