Starr County, the single most Latino place in America, sits along the muddy waters of the Rio Grande in the dusty scrubland of South Texas. At 97 percent Latino, Starr is more Mexican than some places in Mexico, and, for well over 100 years, it voted solidly Democrat. In 2012, Barack Obama won with 86 percent of the vote; Hilary Clinton won with 79 percent. In 2020, there were warning signs for Democrats when 47 percent went for Donald Trump, but many of them dismissed it as a fluke.

There were people promoting that the Democrats were arranging for Texas to have a bigger and bigger Latino population so Texas would vote Dewmocratic. And that was why the Democrats tried to give illegals voting rights: so they could harvest their votes.

But guess what?

I was bracing myself to see the United States taken over by more and more Latino voters voting Democratic. But I should know better, than to assume any person or group can be predictably controlled. I know some Latinos who are not stupid. Ones might be smarter than a number of people, I won't say who lolololololololol

It seems the Latinos and some others saw through how the Democrats promised them things but did not deliver.

They weren't like that goat which can keep trying to bite the carrot in from of it.

my cousin is a programmer in usa, he went in the 2000 there from my country, here most people are from italian and spanish immigrants.
he did the 'american dream' he owns a big house had a family, cars hobbies.

I’ve heard in Argentina, which many Uruguayans travel to via ferry to Buenos Aires across the Rio Platte, that in addition to those of Spanish and Italian descent, there are also numerous people descended from other European countries such as England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, Switzerland, etc, as well as a Jewish population. However compared to many Latin American countries there are very few indigenous people or people of African descent in Argentina. Is that your experience visiting Buenos Aires, if you ever visited it, and also, what ethnicities in Uruguay exist but in smaller numbers than the Spanish-Italian majority you mentioned?

Also I am very curious if Uruguay engages in Parilla (barbecue) and eats the delicious steaks consumed in Argentina, Chile and Brazil. I would assume so, but thought to ask.

Yes people here are very much into parrilladas, is a tradition to make it 'a las brasas' i mean burning wood and roasting it with the lit carbon that is left behind, and there is some black people here and from germany switzerland etc, but most are from spain and italy immigrants. I don't know any indigenous people here, from descendants of them i mean, i think all that were here were killed or something, which was a cruelty of the colonial powers.

Most Latinos are family-oriented.
The Democrats' policies re: LBTQ and abortion do not appeal to them.
