I’m a republican, but lately I’ve been thinking more about politics. Every political side, Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, Independent- everyone is doing what they think is best for the country. Not every democrat is a socialist, not every republican is a nazi. There are extremes, but most people are not extreme and are trying to do what is best. I was wondering what political party you guys are in, why you like that party, and maybe replace any political myths with the truth?

I vote for:

  • Strong National Defense
  • Strong Border Control
  • Pro Life Stance
  • Small Federal Government
  • Lower taxes
  • Minimal Federal Regulations on Business
  • Pro Police
I don't care what the party is - if they stand for the above, they can get my vote.

Democrats can't be Socialists and Republicans can't be Nazis those are four different political parties. None of which appeal to me in the least. I don't belong to a party, I belong to me politically and ultimately, I belong only to Christ. Jesus was extreme. There is nothing inherently wrong with being extreme. Being extremely kind or generous or loving are actually good things. It all depends on what you are extreme about. Political parties are all extreme about garnering power for themselves at the expense of those they consider "the other". People that believe they have all the solutions are extreme. There are people that contend they are not extreme that want to be seen as moderate because they are extremely interested in what other people think of them.

While I briefly registered Democrat in 2016 in order to help with local elections, I have since gone back to being registered Unaffiliated, which I have been for most of my voting life. In any upcoming elections, I plan to vote AGAINST any politicians of any political party who support woke liberal policies and/or vaccine mandates (they can otherwise be pro-vaccine).

I a Democrat because I spent 20+ years as a Union President, 1978-2000. I was a Republican until Reagan's Union busting campaign revealed the Party's true nature.

Ah, Reagan the SAG union leader and president of the actor's union. He fought the good fight for movie actors and won. Funny how a union is favorable when you are one of the people who will benefit from it.

I learned long ago, don't place your faith on any political party, they'll always let you down.

I'm undeclared currently here in MA. I can chose either a democrat or republican ballot in
the primaries and still remain undeclared. I vote for the person who is best qualified and
matches closest to may moral values.

Hi @Vesper_Jaye✝️

I'm registered democrat, but in the general election I vote for whoever I think is the best overall person and has the best overall focus. I align with the democrats in their social values, but I'm not particularly fond of their stand on the aberrant sexual causes. However, I am informed enough about politics to know that the presidential election really isn't the one to fight for if changing the mores of the country is what one is after. The legislative branch is the law making part and that's where, I believe, one should focus if they're unhappy with the laws of the nation.

As we saw with the Obama administration, the president can't make a healthcare system law, but he can certainly let his feelings and opinions be known to the legislative branch and push for whatever healthcare plan that he thinks is best. Similarly, with the Biden administration, President Biden wants to get some infrastructure work done, but all he can do is encourage and cajole the legislature to go with his plan or come up with another. Which is what both the healthcare legislation and the, so far, infrastructure legislation has become. They aren't either one exactly what the presidents that were in office at the time of their passage wanted, but a plan was hammered out by the legislature and that's what we got.

So, for all those who don't think the laws in our nation are in keeping with what they believe the laws should be...push for better legislators, not better presidents. However, as a believer in the one true and living God, I also understand that on this earth there was one government that was to be run with God as its head. That didn't work out very well for very long and I certainly don't believe that any government on the earth, until Jesus returns, will ever be a government by God. Some earthly governments do give a wink and a nod to God, but they aren't particularly beholden to or following God's laws.

God bless,
Ted

Currently registered Democrat, previously have been independent and Working Families Party. My values are anti-capitalist and to the left of the Democrats.

I vote Democrat because of the two parties that have a chance of winning, they support more of my values. A strong safety net that cares for those who are weak or disadvantaged. Universal healthcare. Parental leave. Children are well fed, clothed, housed, and get the best healthcare available. A shorter workweek. Worker/union rights. Aggressively addressing climate change and moving to renewable energy. Money invested in cutting edge technology, mass transportation, and medical research. Housing everyone. Making home ownership accessible to everyone. I could go on but I’ll stop there.

Hi Vesper_Jaye,

I am an not sure I forgot what I re-registered as. :) I was a republican and for me it got bad, real bad. I absolutely hated the other side with a burning passion, so much so I stared acting out to my family because the hatred burned like a thousand suns in my soul. At the point if Darth Sidious was real I would gladly go over to the Dark Side and in the real world I started looking to other things then Christianity like witch craft because I thought in my mind that it was closet to the dark side.

Somehow (I believe God did this) I was able to get a glimpse of myself and where I headed. It scared me and I tried from that day to change. It has not been easy but it has been a journey so I left the republican party as did my whole household because neither party embraced the Christian ideal. That is some of my story

I've never been a member of a political party. I have always voted for the most qualified, respectable candidates. Unless they use deception in the campaign. I've skipped races where both candidates lied during the campaign. If we keep accepting that behavior candidates will behave progressively worse. As demonstrated the past few election cycles. I like the system in Virginia because I can vote in any primary or general election. The more I learn about politics the more discouraged I feel. It seems to have outlived its usefulness in America. Politics here are getting counterproductive.

Milwaukee is arguably the most socialist city in the United States.
As much as I plead, nobody has found a single fault with our politics
or any "damage" caused by Socialist policies here.

Wow, it’s amazing that God let you see where you were headed so that you could change!
I had a similar experience when I prayed to Satan when I was very young and told him to “stop being bad”. Of course, I didn’t mean to do anything wrong, but that have Satan a foothold on my life, which led to constant fear. I had a dream where I couldn’t control what I did or said and I kept speaking blasphemous words against God in tounges. I tried to find water to wash myself clean but instead of water I found a pool of snakes. After that, I’ve been searching for the Biblical Truth, what it has to say in all areas of my life, and I have improved.

Registered Republican, but only in order to be able to vote in the primary. Thinking of switching to Independent. Thinking about it, I probably should switch to Democrat in order to vote in their primary and try to get some more moderate/conservative Dems on the ticket. Thinking about it some more, I don't think I could bring myself to do that :).
