I see your question now. What did the Apostles do when chained to rock walls in prison , at midnight ?
(this is only one example of many thousands of examples available, btw).
See Foxes Book of Martyrs , online, free, for more than enough examples to read for a year perhaps.
God does not ignore anyone wrong doing.
One of the first , or the first thing, to do is to start to see what He Says, instead of what the world says.
Seeing / asking/ seeking God's Way, in and through Jesus, the Way He Provides.

Oh, we all can expect great persecution , tribulation, and suffering for His Sake, without complaint, as that is also a promise of His Word, and what Jesus Says to all of His disciples

Resting , Trusting, Abiding in Him is not often learned, but is the Way of disciples of Jesus.
Abiding means in part, stick with Him no matter how hard it gets (and He Knows Perfectly everything we go thru) .

The world says oh - don't suffer - no one has to suffer, and thus leads multitudes astray, and prevents others from ever finding the Kingdom of God every chance it gets - the world has no love for God nor for His People. Any help people seek from the world, ends up bad. (far worse than suffering)...

"Jesus was a man of SORROW, acquainted with GRIEF"
"Jesus bore out sins and sickness upon Himself"
    Jesus becomes OUR strength,
    Jesus is OUR HOPE!
    Jesus is OUR WAY!
as also more fully in those books described by a Godly woman, in line with Scripture.

Remember Israel enslaved in Egypt ? Read the account in the first five books of the Creator's Torah.
It is amazing what happened, repeatedly, both good and bad revealed (often God's Chosen People repeatedly sinned, and HE STILL REDEEMED THEM from their plight)....

Perhaps that's key: HE redeemed them. (today too). We cannot redeem ourselves, as if in the flesh.
HE CARES, and HE has already provided extravagantly generously strength, courage, joy, peace and righteousness freely, without limits, to those who turn to Him.

    Good OP:
QUOTE="Neostarwcc, post: 74661582, member: 383061"]Meanwhile those who have remained faithful to Christ and to his word would be praised and rewarded by him, BEYOND their wildest dreams? Don't they also realize that they will at max live for 125 years on this planet and after that, their eternity starts? When you start living for 100 sextillion years in pure bliss those "painful" memories wouldn't even come to mind.

We're on this earth for one reason, and one reason only. To come to Christ and to SERVE him. Yet, so many "Christians" don't realize that. "Oh I don't want to be a slave to God! I want to live however I want!"

Sorry but the truth is, that's why you were created. Humanity was created from the getgo to serve and be "slaves" if you will to God. Don't believe me, look at Romans 6:22, Ephesians 6:6, Colossians 3:24 & 1 Peter 2:16 and basically anywhere in Genesis. Just because these books were written years and years ago doesn't mean that times have "changed". God's word NEVER changes.

What I'm saying is not new to Christianity. Or a new concept to God's children. It's been known by every one of God's children who came from Adam and Eve!

So honestly? What's a little physical or emotional abuse? Or what's so bad about living in a so called "toxic" marriage? God GAVE you your spouse so that honestly should be good enough! He gives you the "horrible" marriage to test your faith. Guess what, you failed. And you won't escape God's judgement and you will feel ASHAMED when you have to appear before Christ.[/QUOTE

They got a miracle and got out of prison. You seem to be advocating that people stay in a prison that has been crafted for them by others evil deeds.
Is keeping your marriage vows even a legitimate argument when those vows have already been shredded by the other party? Yes, we should do all we can to reconcile and renew and let God redeem our situation. But there comes a point when the other chooses destruction over love to quit enabling them.
I've been married a lot of years and plan to stay that way. I have also seen the wreckage people endure in abusive marriages and seen God restore to them what the locusts have eaten with a new start. Old sins are remembered no more, once they are under the blood.

My partner and I are married. We plan on not divorcing unless we absolutely have to.

My daughter is in an abusive marriage. Her husband publicly humiliates her, but I told her that Christians have to suffer and to turn the other cheek. He has drained their bank account and won’t give her any money to buy the things she needs, but I told her that she only needs God and that the love of money is the root of all evil, therefore more suffering is just part of the test God is giving her. He makes her do sexual acts that she hates, but I told her that she is to be submissive in order to be obedient. Her husband has said that he is going to chop her head off, but I told her that Paul had his head chopped off and that’s what it takes for some to get an honored place in heaven. I told her to be steadfast, obedient, pick up that cross and carry it because divorce is a super sin and martyrs are lucky, but I’ll pray for her because I’m a devout Christian father.

All of the above is a complete fabrication, but it parallels the lunacy of some comments on this thread by people who have probably never been married or are the tyrannical partner in their own version of a happy marriage.

All that being said, divorce is a sin because it’s not what God intended for marriage regardless of the circumstances. But God forgives sin.

Why are there so many divorces among Christians? Because we live in a fallen world. But God forgives the fallen.

Why are there so many liars, adulterers, addicts, envyers, lusters, cheats, worriers, prideful people, jealous people, gluttons, and modern day Pharisees among Christians? Because we live in a fallen world. But God forgives the fallen.

Might want to check the list Yahweh (God) , Who is Perfect in Every Way,
the list HE HIMSELF GIVES ,
    in the Apocalypse,
that shows simply and clearly who is not found in heaven, ever.

Is that a smug way of saying that I’m wrong?

My point is that we live in a fallen world but there’s hope and redemption for anyone through Christ, rather than pointing out who is going to hell.

Pointing out who is going to hell has been your specialty for a long time on this forum.

To be fair. Most people think that the person they are with is because it's meant by God.
    -

I honestly think we are systematically screwed by todays government. When you think about it, how can we get married under a Church these days when it is so overly expensive. This is excluding the expenses that come with the Honey Moon, and probably the Bachelor party, suits, and all that..

The debt that comes with marriage is already a ticking time bomb for financial stress which is a ticking time bomb for marriage problems, hence divorce. We have to be realistic in these things.

I just don't think it is wise these days to treat marriage like a party-celebration where you have to the most beautiful church and the coolest party these days unless your wallets are already healthy enough for it. I guess go for a small/cheap church and keep the audience at a reasonable minimum?

You said specifically God forgives the fallen,
"as if" He forgives all of them.
Since most sinners do not ever get forgiven, that might (and does?)
give a lost soul hope when they won't make it
"unless they each likewise repent, they perish" as Jesus says
re in the words about those who died when the tower of Siloam fell no them.

Jesus gave many warnings about those who are never saved,
and for those who think all of their life that they are saved,
but find out on judgment day, from Him, all they do is for show and they are told "be gone"....

In my experience, churches will happily do weddings at low or no cost for a couple in financial hardship. It's not the Church which makes weddings expensive.

As for the rest, I'm absolutely sickened that (once again) I am reading so many posts defending domestic violence and advocating that people must stay in violent situations.

God did not advocate violence against family nor kin, and gave His instructions concerning that.
God hated and hates divorce, so His instructions show solutions instead of what He hates.

It's because of views like this that I think CF is the last place to take real life advice. I think it should be noted too because it's rather dangerous to have messages like this, imagine if a woman in a situation is influenced by their views and actually gets murdered eventually?

Oh Paidiske, they don’t mean everyone. They only mean others (not themselves) and other people’s children besides their own. They are the same ones who have told a 23 year old divorced woman that she can never be romantically involved with another man for the rest of her life (unless she’s lucky enough that her ex has an early demise).

Part of my fictional scenario above was an exaggerated recap of what (unbelievably) some woman told another one on a different post a few months ago.

Until they find themselves in an deadly or impossible situation, they find scriptures to quote for others to follow.

What’s even more sickening are the posts saying that people in potentially life threatening marriages should say the course because it’s like being one of the martyrs.
