Of all the people you have ever known, who is the person that really resembled following Christ the most to you? What did you love most about them? What was their life like [career, family, friends, hobbies, etc]? What other details about them or their life can you share?

I have known several very Godly people but the main one I know is my Christian mentor from my original home church in my home town. We grew really close and I learned all about him- he is a lawyer but was in the air force when he was young, volunteers at our church, has a very close relationship with his wife and treats her and his whole family very well and they are all very close, lives in a nice big suburban home with a 1 acre yard and 3 cars... you wont find a drop of alcohol or cigarette near his home. he's like the most ''proper'' suburban-living man you will meet. He loves the Bible, loves fellowship, serves at church, does everything ''right'' and he truly prospers at everything he does... but he doesn't do anything TOO spiritual like street preaching, discipleship, telling others about Jesus, laying hands on people and praying for healings, working with a ministry, casting out demons out of people, etc.... he just loves to show the love and joy of Christ in the mundane areas of life. He doesn't really tell people about Jesus [that I know of] so I don't know if his life is truly pleasing to God or not, but compared to most other people I see, he is following Christ better than most. The only other person I know that is more spiritual than him is a good friend of mine from college that became a campus-minister, he was incredibly mature in only his 20's and began throwing these university-wide all night prayer and worship meetings and had like 20 people under him in his campus-ministry

The most godly people I have known were a John and Kathleen Jenkins. They were volunteers for eons, in the jail I worked in.
One day I had a question for them about a cult I was getting myself into and they spent years working with me to make me a stronger Christian. Their love is well known, and I have been blessed to be another of the people whom the Lord used them to help.

In my case, the most Christ-like person I have ever personally met is M. D. During my career as a teacher he was my department head for a number of years. His love of God and of his fellow man was so obvious that it glowed. He could step into a classroom full of children he had never met before and they instantly knew that he loved them. I suspect that some will be upset when I say that he is a Hindu.

So wait, he loved God AND was a Hindu? He loved the real God, or the Hindu god?

My father. I shared this on another thread. He taught me that "walk" is more important than "talk". He taught me that Godly wisdom is more important than worldly wisdom. I loved his ability to love. Simple as that. The guy had a heart as big as a whale.

I wont be. As Christians we need to think outside the square. That the ability to pass on God's love is not privy to Christians only.

My Dad.
Always thought about others before himself.
Never heard him yell.
Always gave time, money, advice, etc
At 75th birthday party people made comments about him. An old friend said my Dad never thought of himself
I remember when I was a kid, Dad had me help him wash and vacuum his Ford Galaxy. We then filled it up with gas. Later that evening, the friend commenting about Dad came over. He was young and struggling...Dad gave him the car.
Dad travelled for work when I was little. On his way home he met a man at a restaurant. The man had a heart attack and Dad went to the hospital to visit.
The man had no family and was being released from the hospital. He lived hundreds of miles away and couldn't drive home. Dad bounced me out of my room for a week to nurse the man back to strength. A stranger.

I miss Dad a lot.

But in Hinduism, there is not one God but many. So it cannot be the same God of the Bible (Who alone is the True God).

I mean, do you honestly think Shiva is a real deity?
Come on now.

Some years ago I visited a Hindu temple. I stood before the altar area staring in silent amazement at the multitude of images of various deities, some of them very bizarre indeed. I had been there several minutes when I heard a gentle voice behind me say "God is One." I turned to meet the pundit (priest) of the temple. As he escorted me around the altar area he explained that while God is One, we in our finitude are unable to comprehend the fullness of God in a single "take". Each one of the "deities" before us was simply a different manifestation of God's Oneness. We Christians have done much the same with our trinity theory. Interestingly enough, the pundit was also a nuclear chemistry professor at a nearby university.

Yes, God is one.

I didn't say he was.
I am merely pointing out that it is not correct to say that God shows the same kind of favor to those who are in spiritual error vs. His own people.
Yes, God can send reign on the righteous and the unrighteous.
But this is talking about how God is good towards all His creation in a physical way.
It is not talking about spiritual backing here.
God does not dwell with those of other religions that are not of the Bible.

You said:

A form of godliness but it is not true godliness by the Lord living in that person and doing the good work through them.

That is scary.
Anyways, he is just dead wrong.

Yes, God is one.

It is wrong to go to a Hindu temple and see the God of the Bible in that.
Please don't do that again. You are playing around with dark forces.

I note your concern. I have seen God in a great many unlikely places. Perhaps you are missing opportunities?

I agree and Orthodoxy helped me recognize this were although we all have a fallen nature all of mankind are still created in the image of God be it tarnished as it is. That helped me account for the kindness and charity we all see in all religions and atheism.
