Who is so unable to control his temper that he can not travel with his chosen people?

We read in Exodus that the god of Israel says it will not travel with them because He would probably lose his temper and kill them all. Does this really sound like the mental control of He who created the entire universe, the Everliving God, The Creator of Creation?

Having taught a year 10 class in "getting near the end of term mode" this afternoon I know how He feels.

Since we are His creation and He can do whatever He likes, it would seem that He used remarkable restraint (and still does), considering the way we sometimes treat Him.

I think the point is...can a perfect God lose his temper? I don't think the question is whether or not he is entitled to do something.

It shows that God is not Aristotle's Absolute. A God who loves is also a God who can get angry, be jealous, show mercy, experience sorrow and now and again repent.
