Ah so some people expressing their displeasure about an injustice is being uncivil?
People completely ignoring President Trump's lying, name calling and temper tantrums makes it a little hard to take their lectures on civility very seriously.

...I honestly have no idea what you're talking about in that last part. :sorry:
tulc(just thought he's point that out) :)

I never ignored Trump's incivility, but I do wonder why you would ignore Acosta's. It seems to me that if you're going to hold up a standard, then you should apply it equally. (It's okay to see them both as jerks. Really)

His job is to ask the tough questions whether or not President Trump wants to answer them. I watched the undoctored video as opposed to the one Press Sec. Sanders posted as her excuse to take Mr Acostas credentials away and it shows he didn't do what they accused him of. Can you say the same thing about President Trump? Did HE start name calling the instant someone asked him a legitimate question? Yes he did. Did HE refuse to answer the question he was asked? Yes he did. Did HE attack the person who defended Mr Acosta after President Trump attacked him? Yes he did. That's what the undoctored film shows.
tulc(understand though: when people can't find a way to support President Trump, attacking someone else is a pretty standard response) :sorry:

He wasn't just asking questions. He was asking deliberately rigged questions to which have been asked a hundred times and have been answered a hundred times. Surprise surprise Trump doesn't want to deal with CNN when they've been calling him a dictator for 2 years.

That would take some pretty serious talent to make him shove someone that he didn't really touch. It's more likely that your video is the doctored one. It's much easier to take something out than to put something in. The dude's a jerk.

...he's been asked did he feel he had demonized a group of asylum seekers by calling them "an invasion" hundreds of times? Because that was the question he was asked when he had his meltdown.

could you post links to say 10 times that CNN has called President Trump a dictator in the last 2 years?

Why do you even need the press to have a set up in the way they do. Yes I believe it's Constitutionally good to insist that a President give account to the people.....and the press are supposed to be one avenue of doing that but these press conference things have digressed to be more of a circus as in who can ask the most loaded questions....questions which many of the times have become only veiled insults. Perhaps not all the time but much of the time why not have mailed in or sent in questions.....and the White House gives daily answers and publishes them out. If they feel some line of questions are inappropriate they just send out a statement saying such and no long dragged out confrontation in front of cameras. If the press in turn want to report they wouldn't answer a,b or c they could do that. It just seems some of these press people are interested in only one thing...making a name for themselves......THEY BECOME THE NEWS AND NOT REPORT IT. Wasn't there a solid rule among newsmen in days gone by no reporters was ever to seek to become the news? Doesn't it appear all that has been set aside?

He was way out of line, pushing back on the intern, refusing to give up the mike, and then shouting down the next guy who tried to speak. Not ok.

I agree.....some are debating did he push her back or did his hand just glaze her as she reached out for the mic. The point is though he knew she was authorized to remove it from him and he knew that and refused to yield. What was this young lady supposed to do. Wrestle him to the ground? The reporter should have shown respect knowing she had to do her job.

it's always fun when the least civil President/Party in America complains about a lack of civility in others. what's next? Lessons from President Trump on how to stay faithful to your wives? Maybe a lecture on "Innocent until found guilty"? ...if he could be heard over the "LOCK HER UP!" chants of his base that is. :sorry:
tulc(is just wondering)

Ah so some people expressing their displeasure about an injustice is being uncivil? I guess that would depend on what your definition of uncivil is and who it does/doesn't extend to. (She probably thinks she is safe now and for the moment is being silent).

People know what is right and wrong, "civil," and "incivility," which is why they spend so much energy manipulating half truths and calling it "their truths," and downright denying what some may already know. It is a hypocritical psychology, and the people don't know they are transparent; they expect people to be silent.

I consider a lot of things done in American history done to its own people "incivility," and we can name them. Yet, "incivility" has become a problem now? That highlight ignorance and complacency until the population was forced to wake up and recognize what had been happening for so long.

Trump is the product of that ignorance and complacency - born from the American psychology itself. What the OP incident represents is what humans with shorter tempers do - specifically humans that are not representing an entire nation. (Laypersons have the luxury to be mean for no reason.) When Trump is nasty, the ones who call him out are uncouth? That is called projection.

Right. They aren't even legitimate questions. They are almost always - with rare exceptions - ridiculously loaded with propaganda language - regardless who is President. Just cut it out, children, I want to say.

Some of you seem to have never seen a White House press conference before.

Trump's belligerence is the problem.
Perhaps you have never seen a press conference before this administration. There have been rude people who interrupt and shout people down before Trump became President.

...and this is the only President that tried to outshout them. Reporters are paid to ask questions of Presidents, that the questions reporters ask aren't what Presidents want to answer/talk about doesn't change the need for reporters to keep asking the questions. In fact? Those questions they ask are why the press has to be free to ask whatever questions they want to ask.

Then ask questions.

They don't ask questions. They ask the political equivalent of "Do you still beat your wife?" It's a joke. There is rarely an actual question, seeking information.

Perhaps I'm a media veteran who has been in high level press conferences and knows exactly what it takes to get a question in.
What is unusual is the open contempt this president has for anyone not singing his praises.

The truth is many try to defend the reporter just because the story is about Trump. Yet if this was a reporter being disruptive and not letting others talk with any other sitting president this would be a different story.
