The anonymous couple is suing the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science at Saint Barnabas after they gave them half a million dollars to help them get pregnant with their own child.

Part of their suit is meant to discover the child’s biological father. They claim the fertility clinic must have mixed up the intended father’s sperm with another donor.

David Mazie, the attorney for the parents, said there is also concern that the alleged mix-up at the clinic could have led to the intended father birthing another child. If there is a child with his DNA out there, he says he wants to be involved in that child’s life.

The lawsuit claims that the daughter inherited a genetic blood disorder associated with Southeast Asian heritage. Neither parent carried the disorder.

Very upsetting. The judge ordered the clinic to turn over the information but they are still fighting it.
I can see the father wanting to know if he has a biological child out there, and wanting to find out more medical history for the child they do since she's already developed a disorder.

This suit should be dismissed since the child is human.

They can take the child for DNA testing having the clinic pay for it.
And, the Clinic can give them a family medical history without giving them his name. There are programs in place to help them with the child's finances.

Who is saying the child isn't human?

The father in question may also wish to have a child of their own, and is now given to strangers.

The father in the article may have children out there due to this same mistake.

Are these men NOT allowed to know they have children?

Shouldn't the clinic be held accountable for this type of mistake?

No one is saying they don't want the child. I think their concerns are very reasonable.
