Irish people are white, however, they were subject to some pretty nasty things at one point in history and the same can be said for Jewish folks.

The one "cause" I'd undertake would be the one in which I refuse to accept the blame for every ill and wrongdoing that mankind has had to deal with since the Garden of Eden. The whole "Blame Whitey" thing that plagues Western academia has gotten really old.

Sorry, but what cause will white people actually march for, in regards to equality for themselves? The system in place benefits white people, and not people of color. White privilege exists, and it's for this very reason that white people cannot march for supposed racial inequality. The Klan has never been designated a terrorist group, despite historically committing terrorist acts. However, government officials and conservatives want the BLM to be labeled a terrorist organization, despite never committing terrorist acts. That's white privilege for you. Look a the Bundy clan and their standoff with the federal government, and how they were allowed to operate basically with no resistance from the Feds; now pay attention to how the Natives are being treated at Standing Rock in their protest of the Dakota Pipeline. Again, another example of white privilege at work. The day white people are treated as less than equals by the federal government in regards to other races, is the day you can march for "white equality".

Nobody would blink an eye for a German heritage festival and parade. Or Scottish. Or whatever.

But make it a white event, and yeah, thats pretty much throwing a lot of horrible history in the face of other non-white Americans.

If indeed such celebrations of achievements take place perhaps they should take place in European countries which do not have a sordid history of racism such as South Africa and the USA have. Otherwise they will be viewed as racist. Especially if the KKK joins in fully robed beating kettle drums, chanting some monotonic mumbo-jumbo and hoisting burning crosses in a misguided attempt to liven things up.

German and Scottish heritage is almost exclusively a white people heritage. Nothing wrong with that. Its just the way it is. Nobody takes offense.

I don't recall anyone actually mentioning "white equality" except for you.

I don't think there's "a" German ethnicity. I think there are many German ethnicities. Perhaps our views on what constitutes an ethnicity differ?

Is there a single "American" culture?

Even in the relatively small UK, the gross cultural differences over the space of a couple of hundred miles is huge, let alone between the member nations.
