Kewl...a barking arkI once read that Solomon used the bark of the ark to build the Temple.
Termites and woodpeckers must have had a field day on it
Of course, if you're thinking globally, but that's just silly. Noah didn't even know the American continent existed, so I'm pretty sure he didn't cruise over to pick up some diamond back rattlers or grizzly bears. Course if you use your noggin and realize it was a local flood, two of every known animal in the region is much more understandable.
that's more like it
The hebrew word 'erets doesn't necessarily mean the whole earth

Then would that make mankind only 6000 yrs oldHence:
When I'm talking about a literal reading of Genesis, I'm talking about the belief that there was a global flood and that the Earth is only 6,000 years old.

Ok, but how does that automatically lead to your assertion that the ark never existed? We don't have to believe the earth is 6000 years old, nor that the flood was global, to believe the flood actually happened and the ark literally existed.

QFT! Have ya ever tried argueing that with the YECs eheheOk, but how does that automatically lead to your assertion that the ark never existed? We don't have to believe the earth is 6000 years old, nor that the flood was global, to believe the flood actually happened and the ark literally existed.
See:
The ark story itself is likely a conglomeration of stories derived from the mythological history of the Jewish people. Even if you take a subset of animals only in the Middle East, the current biodiversity still raises many problems for the ark story.

How old is the earth? less than 10,000 years?...WHAT!!!
Pssst....the Jewish/Israelite people didn't exist until after Jacob/Israel came alongPsst the Jewish people actually exist too, and they have a history. It's not mythology. Is this what you've come up with on your own or is this what ye ole Pontiff is actually teaching these days?
Pssst....the Jewish/Israelite people didn't exist until after Jacob/Israel came along
Genesis 29:8 And they say, `We are not able, till that all the droves be gathered together, and they have rolled away the stone from the mouth of the well, and we have watered the flock.'
9 He is yet speaking with them, and Rachel hath come with the flock which her father hath, for she [is] shepherdess;
10 and it cometh to pass when Jacob hath seen Rachel, daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the flock of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob cometh nigh and rolleth the stone from off the mouth of the well, and watereth the flock of Laban his mother's brother.
John 4:6 Was yet there a spring of the Jacob. The then Jesus having wearied out of the journey, seated thus on the well. Hour was being sixth.
11 She saith unto him--Lord! not even a bucket, hast thou,--and the well is deep/:--Whence then hast thou the living water? 12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob who gave us the well/frear <5421>,--and himself out of it drank, and his sons, and his flocks?
[Genesis 29:8-10]
