In the Old Testament, the ancient Jews (or Hebrews) were slaves in Egypt for centuries. God mentions to Abraham that he wont give the Jews the land of Caanan until the Caananites 400 years later would reach the full measure of their sins, would be wiped out. Until that time came, the Jews were to stay as slaves in Egypt.
Before the Egyptians captured them, where did the Jews live and originate from? Were they natives to present day Israel and Palestine when Egypt captured them (in a war, possibly), or did they live in a different area of the Levant and Mediterranean? They definitley didnt live near Persia or Arabia, that I'm sure about. Or Europe. The reason most Jews are light skinned today and dont look middle eastern or Mediterranean is because they intermarried over the centuries with european converts and others. (related fact-people in certain parts of middle east, mainly arabian penninsula, are largely mixed race because of the intermarrying from the Islamic slave trade.)
Since they Jews lived in Egypt, it's possible that they came from a different area of North Africa. In fact, many Medditaranian north african ethnicities, like Berbers, are considered white.
The Ancient Hebrews, after settling the Holy land, did develop their own culture and society there that lasted over a millenia until the Diaspora, and they still live in the land today after the British gave them the land after the Second World War, so I'm not arguing that Jews arent native to the land.
Ancient Hebrews and their Jewish descendants today (despite intermarriage and theories that they are Khazar descendants) are an ethnicity from that area, because of the historical culture they developed there, and the fact that they lived in the Holy Land for so long.
This isnt an Israel land discussion thread. It's a question about where the Hebrews originated from.
