Christ is our Sabbath. He is the fulfilment of it, because in him, we rest from our own works. The physical Sabbath, was only a type and a shadow.

I know you miss my posts.
You are reading the scripture according to your interpretation.
No sir, sin is transgression of 'THE LAW' and that phrase is the one that you will find in the New Testament.
Now you will need to support the idea that not respecting someone is a sin. How can it be a sin if the ten commandments do not mention the royal law?
That's what I said, offend any of the law and your guilty of all.
Yes, we might also add anyone who afflicts widows and orphans has committed a grievous sin.

Anyone who kidnaps someone is a transgressor.

Anyone who commits sorcery is a transgressor.
I just refuted that false idea that sin is merely breaching one of the ten commandments.

Anyone who sells their children into prostitution is a transgressor.

Scripture verse please? If I remember correctly, the Greek text does not say "first day of the week." If you're referring to Acts 20:7 it actually says the church came together on one of the sabbatōn. The word sabbatōn is Sabbaths.

Hi Marty, nice to meet you brother. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Scripture please? Where does it say in God's WORD that JESUS is a SABBATH? According to God's WORD the SABBATH is definded as the SEVENTH DAY of the week.

EXODUS 20:10 BUT THE SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH OF THE LORD YOUR GOD..

The SEVENTH DAY SABBATH was made for mankind and JESUS is the LORD (Creator) of the SABBATH *MARK 2:26-27 and commands us in the 4th Commandment to keep the SEVENTH DAY as a HOLY DAY *EXODUS 20:8-11.

There is no scripture that says JESUS is a SABBATH but there are scriptures saying that JESUS is the LORD and creator of the SABBATH which God's WORD defines as the SEVENTH DAY of the week.

    God bless.

I like sharing God's WORD with you brother David
Not at all David. You were shown in God's WORD in post # 74 linked, that SIN is defined as breaking God's LAW (10 commandments) and the scriptures provided defined their CONTEXT to God's 10 Commandments from JAMES, PAUL, and JOHN who actually quote one or more of God's 10 commandments in their definitions of breaking any one of God's 10 commandments as being SIN *JAMES 2:8-10; ROMANS 7:7; ROMANS 3:20; 1 JOHN 3:4; 12-15.
So brother this is what I am posting and why I have porvided *JAMES 2:8-10; ROMANS 7:7; ROMANS 3:20; 1 JOHN 3:4; 12-15 as proof texts. Are you agreeing with me now? Your posting is a little confusing.
Of course brother we should have no respect to showing LOVE to different people just as God's LAW has no respect to those who BREAK it. This is what JAMES 2:8-12 is talking about. You are part quoting to JAMES 2:8-9 but then ignore JAMES 2:10-11.

God's 10 commandments are God's ROYAL LAW of how LOVE is expressed as shown by JESUS in MATTHEW 22:36-40 and PAUL in ROMANS 13:8-10 and JAMES 2:8-12.

Let's add JAMES 2:10-11 back into the conversation because I did quote these scriptures in support to show that if we break any one of God's 10 Commandments we commit SIN.

JAMES 2:10-11 [10], For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. [11] For he that said, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, said also, DO NOT KILL. Now if thou commit NO ADULTERY, yet if thou KILL, YOU ARE BECOME A TRANSGRESSOR OF GOD'S LAW

Don't think I need to add an explaination here brother God's WORD speaks for itself as well as the rest of the supporting scriptures provided. Go check them out.

Sorry brother God's WORD disagrees with you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts however David.

May God bless you as you seek him through his WORD

Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

1Ti 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

Gal 2:18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
Gal 2:19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

    Thanks for your thoughts brother.

Let me make one thing clear. No one is telling you that our rightouesness is from the law. So that deals with your posts in Galatians. We are all sinners and need of a Saviour. The role of God's LAW (10 Commandments) is gives us a KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is when broken *ROMANS 3:20 and shows us who we are as God's sees us *ISAIAH 64:6. The wages of SIN is death ROMANS 6:23. God's LAW shows us that we are all sinners in need of a Saviour and leads us to the cross of Christ that we might be FORGIVEN by FAITH *GALATIANS 3:22-25

If we have no LAW then we have no KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is. If we have no KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is then we have no need of a Saviour. If we have no need of a Saviour then we are lost because we are still in our sin because we reject the gift of God's dear sin *ROMANS 6:23.

We are all saved by GRACE through FAITH and not of ourselves, it is a free GIFT of God and not of works lest any man should boast *EPHESIANS 2:8.

The role of God's ETERNAL LAW (10 Comandments) in the OLD and NEW COVENANT is to give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTOUESNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172 to lead us to Christ *GALATIANS 3:22-25.
God's 4th commandment is one of God's 10 commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS *ROMANS 3:20.

God's WORD says that all those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23. OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50.

There is NOTING in HEBREWS 4 brother that says JESUS is a SABBATH. As shown in the last post to you God's WORD defines the SABBATH as the SEVENTH DAY of the WEEK *EXODUS 20:10 that JESUS made for mankind and is the LORD of *MARK 2:27-28. Happy to go through HEBREWS 4 with you if you like scripture by scripture?

Thanks for sharing your thought brother.

    Hope this helps. God bless

OK, so I know you probably don't understand this as of yet, but there are 2 laws. One is physical, and the other is spiritual. The physical law is just outwardly and the second is spiritual. Now, the first law has been done away with, because it was just a foreshadowing oh him who was to come, that being Christ. The Scriptures are not a human text book. If you are looking for the exact verse that says, Christ is the fulfilment of the physical law, you probably won't find it, but if you want to read the scriptures in their entirely, then you can put the pieces together and you will understand.

Christ is the fulfilment of the law. The new convenient, which is the law of the spirit, mean's that merely following the physical law, no longer cuts it. We are subject to the law of the spirit, and as such, we cannot even begin to live up to it, because only Christ can live up to it, because he is spirit. When the man of sin finally dies, because Christ destroys him with the brightness of his coming, then we can enter into his rest, because we no longer working, but Christ is working in us.

Hello brother Marty, thanks for your thoughts.

JESUS came to magnify the LAW from the INSIDE OUT. This is shown by JESUS on the sermon on the mount MATTHEW 5:17-32 where JESUS applies God's LAW (10 commandments) to our very thoughts and feelings in fulfillment of *ISAIAH 42:21.

This is to show that unless our RIGHTOUESNESS EXCEEDS the RIGHTOUESNESS of the Scribes and Pharisees we can in no way enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN. Jesus is saying the problem runs deeper then outward observance to the 10 Commandments. EVIL begins in the HEART.

BREAKING GOD's 10 COMMANDMENTS from the heart defile a man *MATTHEW 15:18-19. JESUS is saying we can be outwardly perfect and blameless like the Scribes and Pharisee but inwardly like dead mans bones *MATTHEW 23:27-28. JESUS magnified the LAW to the INSIDE OUT. To show us that we are all sinners in need of a Saviour and that sin originates in the HEART (thoughts and feelings). That is why we have the NEW COVENANT promise and need to be BORN AGAIN by Faith in God's WORD for salvation to be free from SIN (breaking any one of God's 10 commandments) *HEBREWS 8:10-12; 1 JOHN 3:3-10.

If we are not BORN AGAIN into the NEW COVENANT promise and continue in it we will not enter the kingdom of Heaven *1 JOHN 2:3-4; 1 JOHN 2:3-4. ALL those who KNOWINGLY break any one of God's 10 commandments stand guilty before God of sin *JAMES 2:10-11. All those who KNOWINGLY CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into God's KINGDOM *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23.

RIGHTESOUSNESS comes from faith in God's WORD that works by LOVE because LOVE is the fulfilling of God's LAW and the very expression of what LOVE is *ROMANS 13:8-10. He that does not LOVE does not KNOW GOD for GOD IS LOVE * 1 JOHN 4:8.

All those who are BORN AGAIN have a NEW HEART TO LOVE and FOLLOW GOD *1 JOHN 4:7. This is the NEW COVENANT promise *HEBREWS 8:10-12. Those who are BORN AGAIN do not practice SIN (breaking God's Commandments) *1 JOHN 3:4-9. This is why JOHN finishes on this subject by saying; For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous *1 JOHN 5:3 and is why JESUS says IF you LOVE me KEEP my commandments *JOHN 14:15.

UNLESS we are BORN AGAIN under the NEW COVENANT to LOVE we will not enter the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *JOHN 3:3-7. We need to be changed from the INSIDE OUT.

God's 4th Commandment is one of the 10 Commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of what sin is. There is no such thing as the 9 commandments in God's WORD. The same as there is no scripure that says God's 4th commandment is Abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day.

    Hope this helps.

The shadow is not real, but the thing casting the shadow is real.

2Co 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Indeed, so how does that relate to the post and scriptures you were quoting from about JESUS magnifying the LAW and our need of being BORN AGAIN to LOVE under the NEW COVENANT?

The new covenant is all spiritual. Keeping a physical sabbath is meaningless! It's as meaningless as sacrificing animals. Keeping shadow in no way pleases God.

    Hello Marty,

Where is the scripture that says the NEW COVENANT is all spiritual and keeping a physican Sabbath is meaningless? Is not the spiritual manifested in the physical? As asked earlier how does your post relate to the post and scriptures you were quoting from about JESUS magnifying the LAW and our need of being BORN AGAIN to LOVE under the NEW COVENANT?

Brother you mix up the SHADOW laws from the MOSAIC BOOK of the OLD COVENANT *EXODUS 24:7 fulfilled in JESUS with God's ETERNAL LAW (10 Commandments) that give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHEOUSNESS in the NEW COVENANT *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172. If you do not know what the OLD COVENANT is how can you know what the NEW COVENANT is that the OLD points to? God's 10 Commandments give us the KNOWLEDGE of SIN which broken *ROMANS 3:20.

God's 4th Commandment is one of God's 10 Commandments. If we have no LAW we have no knowledge of SIN and no need of a Saviour. If we have no need of a Savior we are lost because your are still in your sins. Sorry brother God's WORD disagrees with you.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Marty

May God help you are you seek him through his Word

Yes I'm looking to write more on the topic. I'm caught between a few replies and starting a new thread where I cover Sunday Worship history and theology. I will probably start a new thread and take some time to make case with multiple posts.

hmmm, several things wrong with this. The law was not abolished it was fulfilled and the NT valued Sunday worship (implicitly) but it was not a commandment (or an implicit commandment). If we take the OP as it is then of course nowhere in the bible does it say the Sabbath was abolished and replaced with Sunday... this is a straw man and arguing its points will only cause it to implode and it will suck you in with it. This is also pretty deliberate and I'm not sure I can engage this kind of blatant misrepresentation and building an argument for something no one is defending.

As a former SDA, I have two gripes about their seventh-day teachings:

They stress one day of sabbath, but do not stress the "six days shalt thou labor" part of the commandment.

While railing against the RCC position, they use the same Catholic Gregorian calendar to point to the proper day.
