LDS - are these authoritative texts?

An unhealthy system does not completely produce good doctrine.

If a prophet teaches false doctrine one day and so-called true doctrine the next --- one should cut down that tree and destroy the roots --- so not to spread false doctrine to another tree or system.

Since today, LDS pick and choose what they want to believe from their so-called prophets and sources --- it is wiser to flush the whole false system and go back to the Bible alone which is reliable because it comes from the one and only true God.

What doctrine? Your other thread doesn't have any LDS doctrines at all.

1) If you want to critique LDS theology, at least do your homework and get your facts straight.
2) If you wish to be "Bible alone" beliefs, are you willing to denounce your extra-Biblical creeds?

Going back to the Bible is a good source. In Acts 15 there is a big gospel question facing the Church.

Paul was in Antioch;

And certain men which came down from Judæa taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved….Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

6 ¶And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them,….

Peter gave his argument against circumcision and then

“…the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:…

James gave his argument and plan.

“.. we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.”

So there was a nod toward the Law of Moses yet they didn’t want to scare all the male gentiles away.

“Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church”

Please note Peter didn’t arbitrarily say NO! They don’t need to be circumcised they debated and came to an agreement, they were one.

This is the Lord’s system! No one man leads the Church!

I look at the Church as the bride of Christ she is getting ready but she is missing some of her jewels and her veil isn’t on straight. She will stumble but she will be ready when the second coming comes.

A Prophet is a man with a lot of promise but still just a man. The Lord is working and testing him just as much if not more than us ordinary members.

In 1 Kings 13 there is an interesting little story of one prophet lying to another, it was God testing the prophet to see if he would be true. He wasn’t and got eaten by a lion.

But that does not mean the prophecy of about “a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name” wasn’t true nor does it make the miracle of Jeroboam’s hand being dried up and then being restored false.

Young had some problems doctrinally but he also had a lot of spiritual insight when it came to planning and directing a very large group of people. Moses wasn’t perfect either!

Daniel, how do you know that the Bible "comes from the one and only true God"?
