What's with the super-high online prices?

I keep hearing about how online shopping is getting so popular that it's putting physical retailers out of business. I hear that online shopping provides far more options and better prices. Even groceries can be bought online. Well, at Walmart I used to buy canned fish called Pampa Mackerel. It was 1.38 per can in the store, and then went up to 1.98 for about a year, and now is down to 1.44, but never in stock. So I go online, and the prices are astronomical! $8.42 for one can??? Take a look at these results:
    pampa mackerel - Google Search

Also, at Aldi they have Moser Roth chocolate bars for 1.99. I was hoping to get a whole bunch of them at maybe a lower price. That's usually what happens when you buy in bulk. Instead, I get this:https://www.amazon.com/Moser-Roth-G...locphy=9019301&hvtargid=pla-569131458639&th=1

$30 for 6? At the store, it would only cost $12.

I guess I'm new at this. Is there a way to actually find better prices online? They seem to be far better at the physical stores.

All the expensive mackerel in your first link are for multiple cans. Did you take that into account?

I did. The first item on the list in the first link is 1.65 for one from Dollar General. That's reasonable, I guess. But the second one is 8.42 for a "pack of 1". The 3rd one down shows a pack of 3 for 12.90, which comes out to 4.30 per can. After that is a 4 pack for 18.88. Far more than the 1.44 each they cost at Walmart.

Pending on your location, it is sometimes better to get it at a physical store I find. And I say pending on location because hard to reach towns/cities stores may pay more thus charge you more.

You just got to shop around, choose better key words.

In just 10 seconds I found this
Pampa Mackerel in Brine, 15 oz

Granted its not the 1.44 you hope for, it still is pretty close at 1.65 for the 15oz can

Buying bulk usually works better when you get directly from the manufacturer. Though, sometimes manufacturers do not provide this option for a regular consumer, only businesses. From what I see, if you have an Aldi's close by, it is better to just go there and get them, otherwise pay higher prices unless the manufacturer of "Moser Roth" will sell/ship them to you direct cutting out any "middle men".

Because I am in the UK your link is set up to provide me with a different suite of offers. I took a quick look at around fifteen or twenty and - given the typically higher food prices in the UK - they seemed comparable with the store prices you were familiar with. Sorry I can't suggest anything else.

Yep, that Dollar General one is the one that came up first on my list. I wonder who would pay the prices of those other ones.

I know what you mean. Seems like for those chocolates though, the only good place I found was $2 at Aldi's. Everything else was like "WHOA! $6 for 4 ounce candy bar!"
