  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Man, and here I gave up so long ago running a mere 1/4 mile once a week or so at the track at my college down the road. I need to get back to that now if you are over here doing literally 36 times as much.

Ladylike yes. But I never embraced belle behavior. I believe in telling the truth. You need a measure of feigned politeness. They don’t say what they think to your face unless provoked. They talk around a lot.

My family is Southern on both sides. But I’m the straight shooter of the bunch. If something bothers me I go to the source. I don’t talk to my mother about my aunt or a friend about my companion without speaking to them first.

Keeping up appearances is a big deal for some in that culture. I don’t care about that.

I forgot to ask. Which version did you see? The one with Keira Knightley or an older production?

Austen has legions of fans called Janeites. We esteem her work immensely. Several organizations, events, and clothing styles arose due her influence. I love her!

That's a good question...

It was on PBS, I don't know if you have that where you are...

They were British actors I believe. The two main characters were dark haired, dark eyed...and she had a beauty mole.

It appeared pretty new.
