You can also get water filters that can get the chemicals out that they add in. Depending on the filter and the chemicals. If you have a choice it's usually not good to just drink tap water all the time unless its filtered.

I always drink tap water But thankfully my town is fluoride free. But we do have quite large amounts of calcium. You can see it when you boil water because it becomes deposited at the bottom of the kettle.
