Yes, you will have carnal moments.
We have a mind, we live in a body, we are surrounded by sensuality and worse.
However, You can't walk around with your eyes closed..

So don't confuse a feeling of guilt, with the HS.
Many do this...

When you have a MENTAL moment that isn't the clean and the pure, then get out of that mind. Send it away from your thoughts.
YOU control that..
Thats all you have to do.
You dont have to repent, because once you start there, you will dwell on that mental situation and it will become your mind.
What happens is that the more you try to deal with your own sin, the more this causes you to be sin conscious, which then drives the flesh and makes the problem more profound in your flesh.
So, instead of dwelling on what it was that you did, or thought, just get out of that mind., as that mind is the Flesh.

Something to realize and something to remember....
Every sin you commit...(work of the flesh), is instantly IN THE PAST. And the blood of Jesus is always coming forward from the Cross endlessly redeeming you and keeping you clean. So, every sin (work of the flesh) you commit, is instantly in the PAST and the CLEANSING BLOOD of Christ is always in the NOW, going into the FUTURE< always keeping you redeemed.

You dont have to confess or repent or feel guilty., as all that keeps you in that carnal mind., and that mind is flesh, or it would not have been dwelling on that which you now feel bad about.

Trying to resist sin in you own power causes you to sin more.
Dwelling on how bad you feel about it, causes you to think about it more, which allows the Law to cause your flesh to be more involved and more involved. That is the TRAP that is found when you are repenting and confessing, to try to clear yourself and make yourself "right" again.. with God.
Understand, that you are always right with God, and when you have a carnal moment, or do a carnal work of the flesh,....dont then lose your mind INTO the dwelling guilty place, as that place will keep you doing it and feeling condemned which keeps you doing it .
The idea is to not exit in that mind of the flesh, as if you do, the dominion of the law will actually inflame your lust.
You have to stay out from UNDER all that, which is to live in the place of Grace.

"The power of SIN.....is the LAW"... Its not your flesh.
So, when you try to will yourself to do better, or will yourself to stop doing some sin, you are actually empowering the Law to cause you to want to do it more..

You will never stop sinning by trying to stop sinning.....that is the "curse of the Law"...that rules.
So, you have to see this verse....."Jesus has redeemed you from the CURSE of the Law"..
And this verse.... "You are not under the Law, you are under GRACE"..

And this verse...>"Sin shall not have dominion over you"...

And this verse..>>"The power of SIN, is the LAW"..

So, get away from all the striving to be better, and do better, as that is what gives the Law power over you to cause you to want to sin more and more.

What you do, is learn to live in the place of God's GRACE.
You learn to see yourself as God sees you..."RIGHTEOUS"....and you learn to BELIEVE THIS, instead of thinking of yourself as a "saved sinner".

LIVE HERE : = Hebrews 13:9

When you LEARN to only see yourself as God sees you, you will REST from fighting sin, and you will find that its by RESTING IN GOD, .. In God's GRACE, that you find your spiritual power that is your VICTORY OVER SIN.

You have to get there.
Start today.

Great post.
I agree with all....
Just want to say that some feel better if they confess...so I don't think anyone can say not to.
It's between them and God.

Love your last paragraph about how to have victory over sin. Amen.

If you sin, you have to be sorry for your transgression, asking God for forgiveness.

Jesus didnt suffer and die so that we could sin without a care in the world thinking that it doesnt matter as Jesus has it covered!

Hebrews 13:9 says, "Do not be carried away by all sorts of strange teachings. For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not ritual meals, which have never benefited those who participated in them." So, your citation is irrelevant, unless you're about to have a ritual meal with the wrong attitude.

Boy do I ever get sick of humanistic interpretations and translations of the Bible rendering the spirit of the word obsolete and making it a empty and strange teaching of the letter which people do not understand and which they cannot receive life from.

what do you think that Jesus meant when he said I have food of which you do not know of? There is no word for ritualistic meal in that translation it is simply meat. People should stop trying to add onto what God has said.

Ok so then let's say "you take God's name in vain"...

And the NT Writer says "SIN IS transgression of the LAW" 1 John 3:4
And "what matters is KEEPING the Commandments of God" 1 Cor 7:19

So then - should you try not to take God's name in vain -- or just go with the flow of the current... accept it "as a given"... why should Christians be any different from the lost.. ??

So then as someone has said "Confess and repent" -- a good Bible approved solution to sin in those carnal moments.

Matt 7
16 You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? 17 So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So then, you will know them by their fruits.

Metal comes from the fire - better for it.
Trees don't

I was a little bit too harsh in criticizing the translation of ritual meal. Let me be more clear about Hebrews 13:9. One way to view food is - Doctrines are foods. that's why the strange and various doctrines that were not profitable to those who consume them are considered to be strange. A few versus later on we see what sacrifices/meals are acceptable. It's not good to keep the mindset as if the word was not profitable and assuming the gist of the teaching was talking about some obsolete "ritual foods" which have no edification for us. they are vain sacrifices and vain meals which did not profit anything because they are without the grace of the life of the spirit. We are the temple of God and priest of God, the food that we have is not unprofitable. God's word does not return void and so why would our food that we eat be for nothing?

You said about Hebrews 13:9, "live here". It's about ritual meals. ""Do not be carried away by all sorts of strange teachings. For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not ritual meals, which have never benefited those who participated in them."

John 4:31-34, "Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, “Rabbi, eat something.” But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” So the disciples began to say to one another, “No one brought him anything to eat, did they?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of the one who sent me and to complete his work."

That is self-explanatory.

The point I was trying to make is that food is not supposed to be without Grace. The letter kills, the spirit is life. The words that he speaks are spirit and they are life. But only those that wish to worship the father in spirit and in truth have food that is not strange. We are supposed to be having the kind of food that Jesus was having not what his enemies that opposed him, the Hypocrites and the ritualist that loved minor things and disregarded the heart of the law.

Great post.
I agree with all....
Just want to say that some feel better if they confess...so I don't think anyone can say not to.
It's between them and God.

Love your last paragraph about how to have victory over sin. Amen.

There is no issue with not feeling great about a carnal moment.
We are human... We have them.
But, when we BELIEVE that everytime we feel that we have sinned (works of the flesh),. that we are now not saved AGAIN....or that until we confess and repent we are out of God's fellowship or favor, then THAT is a big problem, because we are trying to of our SELF EFFORT = CAUSE GOD to keep us, or accept us.
This means our faith is not in Christ....our faith is in OURSELVES.......this is a SELF-Saver.
So, we have to get out of that misunderstanding and mindset regarding Salvation..
WE have to come to realize that its God who saved us using the Blood of Jesus, and God will keep us saved and in fellowship with Himself and at Peace with Himself, always.. BY the Blood of Jesus.
If we FEEL that we have messed up, then this has no bearing on our relationship with God, as nothing we did and nothing we can do, has any part in WHAT Redeems us and keeps us "ONE" with God and Christ.

Every sin (work of the flesh), you will ever commit has already been washed in the Blood of Jesus.
We dont activate or reactivate the Blood Atonement, by repenting and confessing.
Its a ONE TIME Sacrifice that eternally redeems....is the BLOOD ATONEMENT....The Blood of Jesus.
We are born again ONCE..... And that is an eternal situation that GOD PROVIDED.
GOD PROVIDED it.
You can't cause it, and you can't keep it. You have no control over your BIRTH.
Not from your mother.
And not from your Heavenly Father.

Jesus died 2000+ yrs ago. So, the Cross that is in the PAST, the blood of Jesus that is shed 2000 yrs ago, is keeping you SAVED , always.
This never ends.
How does the blood shed 2000 yrs ago, pay for your sin , forever?
Its because that Blood is GOD's Blood. And there is POWER IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS.
Reader, learn to believe that the same Blood of Jesus that saved you, will always keep you saved.
When you come to this knowledge of the truth, then you will be able to find a brand new walk with God. The one you should have always had, but you were taught something else, and you see the result..... sinning, confessing, repenting, over and over, = fail.
That is not True Christianity.

Hebrews 13:9 says, "Do not be carried away by all sorts of strange teachings. So, your citation is irrelevant, unless you're about to have a ritual meal with the wrong attitude.

You quoted a verse, yet you missed the context.

"be not carried away"= by "strange doctrines"
Your bible is not a good version, so, it also left that out, and that context is what matters that you have to learn.

See, this world is full of strange doctrines about God burning people in the lake of fire, or Jesus being the Brother of Satan......and just all sorts of crazy "theology" man made "doctrine".... junk.
So, as that verse teaches you, if you get your mind and heart and theology grounded in Grace, the Gospel of Grace, the understanding of the Grace of God, then you won't be captured and ruined by the devil's teachers who teach the crazy stuff on Forums, and from Pulpits.

So then as someone has said "Confess and repent" -- a good Bible approved solution to sin in those carnal moments.

If repenting and confessing is the Blood of Jesus, then keep doing it.
Is it?
if its not, then it wont do anything for your sin. (works of the flesh).
BUT, it'll help you with another 100 guilt trips, as that is all it will solve for you...same as the last 100 times you did it.
See, over your lifetime, you've worked out this little mental mechanism, where you'll sin, and feel bad, and if its a really big sin, you'll really feel bad....and sometimes you might cry and worry about it for 2-3 days.
Finally, you'll feel a little better and then you'll tell yourself....>"ok, im alright with God again, as i FEEL BETTER".
But that is just you playing a mental game with yourself until you worked out your bad FEELINGS.

And the entire time, you were just as born again as you were before you did whatever it was , and probably it was not the first time you sinned that sin. (work of the flesh) right? ?

So, Reader, if you want to stop playing that game with yourself and God, (He's not impressed), then learn how to believe RIGHT about the Grace of God and learn that the Blood of Jesus is not a Temporary solution for you sin.
As long as you keep trying to stop sinning by your willpower, you will keep doing it.
You can't stop sinning in your power...by your striving....by trying to stop.... Have you not noticed this yet?
Wake up.

If repenting and confessing is the Blood of Jesus, then keep doing it.
Is it?

I have never read "repenting and confessing IS the blood of Jesus"
I heave never read "whatever you DO be sure to only DO the blood of Jesus"
I have never read "not taking God's name in vain - IS the blood of Jesus"
I have never read "loving your neighbor as yourself IS the blood of Jesus"
I have never read "Loving God with all your heart - IS the blood of Jesus"

So you have me on that one - I have a whole Bible full of doctrinal statements where each one is not claiming that it "IS" the blood of Jesus.

What I do know is that in Hebrewa 8 , 9 and 10 we are told that the actual "Blood of Jesus" is being claimed in our behalf - by Christ Himself as our High Priest - who ministers for us at the right hand of the Father, the one mediator between God and man.

Where it is Christ who says "NOT everyone who SAYS Lord Lord will enter" - Matt 7

Where it is Christ who says "NOT everyone who SAYS Lord Lord will enter" - Matt 7

Everyone who is at the White Throne Judgement is going to be found claiming they always trusted in Christ.
THere are no unbelievers found after they are DEAD.

John Lennon, once wrote a song......."Imagine there's no heaven, its easy if you try, no hell below us, above us only sky".

Well, he's not singing that now. He became a BELIEVER, after he was DEAD.
= Too late.
Everyone believes in Jesus after they are DEAD.
However, God only accepts those who trusted and Believed when they were alive, and had to trust by FAITH. As Faith is counted as Righteousness.

In Rev 20 it is only the wicked that are raised for the Great White Throne Judgment and they are all cast into the lake of fire.

it is highly doubtful that they are all going to claim to have lived as Christians during their life time - doing good works in the name of Jesus.

The two thieves on the cross were both cursing Christ - then one of them reforms and says that Christ had done nothing wrong - but both of them were facing death having done evil and deserving of their punishment according to that on thief. The other one remained bitterly opposed to the truth to the very end. Neither one of them would be claiming to have lived a virtuous Christian life.

One of the dying Thief's who was on the Cross next to Jesus, is now in Heaven.
And, when the unbelieving dead realize that they are going to burn, they will be pleading, yelling, screaming, begging, crying, having panic attacks......they will be trying to do everything and anything to keep from burning in eternity. They will be saying anything......and none of it will help them...

"depart from ME, i never knew YOU">. = you were never born again.

What they won't be doing -- as both thieves on the cross illustrate - is claiming that they were Christians all their lives, doing nothing but good deeds , and so now they can't understand how it is that God would cast them into the lake of fire in Rev 20.

Sure it can be said for certain that nobody wants to go to hell - but in Matthew 7 Jesus is not claiming that all the atheists, hindus, Muslims and carnal Christians will alike be claiming that they were all living good Christian lives.

Confession is not for the person you sin against. It's for your own healing. It allows the blood of Christ to heal your soul. It is said that the just man sins 7 times a day. I don't believe, on the other hand, that seeing a pretty girl and admiring her God-given beauty is a sin, anymore than looking at crashing waves on the rocks. If you don't allow those thoughts to dive further, you have not sinned. Lust is the desire to have sex with someone. I think it helps to realize that that person has a mother somewhere, and a Father in heaven. So don't look with sexual intent. And if you do, and you haven't taken action, you can just ask Jesus for forgiveness. If you take some action on your thought, then is when you should be seeing your priest.

Sometimes we grow blackberries that have thorns. They are useful but they still poke us. If we long build up sin in us expect them to still be there repeating themselves even when you have rejected them. It becomes sin in you. They are the persecutions that we suffer inside of ourselves. The Lord said that we are blessed when we are persecuted.

That Thief on the Cross was also not water baptized, yet, He's in heaven.

Here is the thing about that "living the good life"..."striving to be good"..

A person can say......well, compared to YOU, im a saint.
An unbeliever can say...>"well, i know you, ive seen what you're like, .. you might fool the people on the forum with your spiritual pretense, and your christianese.....but i know you in LIFE.....and if God will take you, then certainly i'll go to heaven also, as im as good as YOU ARE..."""

So, that person, is not understanding something.
Which is, ... all of us are what we are.. Some are more about works then others, and some unbelievers live a much more holy life then many Christians..
But, the problem is....... non of this can compare to the sinless Jesus.
All of us, on our best day, are a dirty rag, as compared to the sinless Son of God.

Our Righteousness comes from God.
We have none, but His.

What you can do, is learn how to live a perfected Discipleship.
You can come to the end of your confessing, repenting, sinning, born again self.
Or you can just keep arguing that you are supposed to be sinning and confessing and repenting.
You get to choose that for yourself.
