If you don’t care, that’s ok. Just have the courtesy to bow out.

The thread is mean to provoke conversation and the exchange of ideas. You can agree or disagree, or perhaps give some thoughts on the ideas and thoughts expressed.
You provoke conversation better if you provide something to talk about.

If all your provide are things to mock, that is what happens.

Since its founding in 1930, the Nation of Islam (NOI) has grown into one of the wealthiest and best-known organizations in black America. Its theology of innate black superiority over whites and the deeply racist, anti-Semitic and anti-gay rhetoric of its leaders have earned the NOI a prominent position in the ranks of organized hate.

Nonetheless, its bizarre theology of innate black superiority over whites — a belief system vehemently and consistently rejected by mainstream Muslims — and the deeply racist, anti-Semitic and anti-gay rhetoric of its leaders, including top minister Louis Farrakhan, have earned the NOI a prominent position in the ranks of organized hate.

Farrakhan blames Jews for the slave trade, plantation slavery, Jim Crow, sharecropping and general black oppression. Farrakhan's tone grew more belligerent in June 2010, when he sent letters to several leaders of the Jewish community as well as the Southern Poverty Law Center demanding that they realize the evils they have perpetrated and that they work to further Farrakhan's goals. The letter ended with a threat to "ruin and destroy your power and influence here and throughout the world" if his terms were not met.
Sounds vaguely familiar and similar to another organization
Most likely a smaller role than the Catholic Church plays in politics.

You must have read it somewhere else...

I know it’s difficult for some to grasp a new thought or a narrative that hasn’t been spoonfed to them for years.

Do some reading get away from the media go to the places where these folks are actually writing and saying things. And then compare them to what are the other groups that are just like them and you’ll find the narrative is the same.

I know that rubs up against what you’re being taught but maybe just maybe you’re missing something

This is a general statement not focus on one person.

If you don’t care, that’s ok. Just have the courtesy to bow out.

In terms of their influence in politics (or any other social realm), it's minimal compared to other religious group.

- Their 2007 membership estimate is around 20,000 members
- The highest ranking member of the organization only has a net worth of $3 million
- They have been officially declared as a hate group by SPLC
- They have no congressional allies and no D.C. officials willing to associate with them

...basically, compared to the other religions, these guys are chump change. In terms of the financial assets of the organization itself, the Catholic Church shakes more out of their couch cushions...

When you openly declare yourself as a separatist or supremacist organization, you vastly limit the number and caliber of people willing to do business with you.

For context, internationally revered, arena-rock group Journey has over 5 million followers on Facebook. I'd bet at least one is a US congressperson. Which means they probably have more political power than the Nation of Islam.

I don't know which group I find more offensive to my ears lol.

On one hand, I hate separatist rhetoric...but on the other hand, whenever "don't stop believing" comes on, I do kind of want to punch my radio ;)

Tell you what, @hislegacy -- what role, in your opinion, should the NOI be allowed to have in politics?

None whatsoever. This is the US, every vote and every opin has the right to their opinion.

Black Supremacist included.

Did you know Muhammad Ali once talked a man out of jumping from a building?

did you know Stalin saved a baby from drowning.

What does that have to do with the thread?

Oh no! Not boxers!

Your point is that we should be concerned about boxers?
If boxers, with all their defensive training and whatnot can become Muslims, I don't think any one of us are safe!

About as much as boxers have to do with behind the scenes politics.
