What qualifies someone for hell?

Are all Christians accepted into heaven or are there golden rules? I am a sinner, and though I'm sorry for my sins I accept the fact that I am just going to sin again. Having anxiety disorder I always worry that I am not going to make it to heaven. My depression makes me feel like a bad person who is condemned.

I'm guilty of looking at girls lustfully from time to time. And I accept the fact that it'll happen again, even though I wish that wasn't the case and I'm sorry. Though it seems that will get me into hell.

Stuff like that gets to me.

I think it's a gradual process of changing every aspect of your life.

We may be saved overnight, but it takes a while to change a lifetime of bad habits, faulty thinking and basically sinning.

I think this is where the lord picks us up after we stumble, and gives us the strength to say no at times.

You will get there!

We are ALL sinners to some degree. We all fall short. God knows that...and he loves us anyway.

Jesus died on the cross for the sins of humanity...but more than that...he ROSE from the dead. He is our victory over sin.

We are all on a journey...as we walk along our spiritual path, and try to align our will with His will, we will be less likely to sin. However, that doesn't mean we will not stumble along the way. When we do, if we go to God and honestly acknowledge our wrongdoing and ask for forgiveness, we are forgiven. That includes you.

Might I make a suggestion?

I know a little of that anxiety. But this salvation thing is not about you, my brother. It's about Jesus. Jesus is what God has done to change the rules.

Without Jesus you'd be dead on arrival. That fact doesn't change. Except for Jesus your whole life is death on a stick. That doesn't change. Every sin you make, you're compelled to realize once again, you can't do this thing.

But ... you're with Jesus. That changes the rules. He's died a criminal's death for you. For your salvation.

That anxiety you're feeling may be your disorder over-obsessing on this issue, yes. But it's not solely that. It's really a magnification of a terrifying "right-order" anxiety we all feel about it. Paul describes it in himself in Romans 7:14-end-of-chapter. He sees this sinful nature creeping through everything he touches. And the only answer -- "Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ!"

So your obsessing is a great opportunity to focus intensely on the solution to this problem. That you're entrusting yourself to another Person -- the Person of the Son of God. Go to Him. Remind yourself in prayer to Him that you're relying on Him to get you through this mess you make -- and I make -- and everyone here makes. You're relying on Jesus to clean you up, to love you. And in one sense Jesus has already done that. If you've relied on Jesus, He's already declared you "not guilty." He's died for you.

You can't walk this stuff perfectly. But He can. Lean on Him, He can carry you through. And live through the leaning. It won't make you perfect instantly. It's only a start. But it's headed for total glory (Rom 8:29-eoc).

Hello Fodera,

I think the easiest way to think of it is that sin creates a barrier between you and God. If you are knowingly hiding sins from God, they are unrepentant sins, and there will be a barrier there. Scripture says that if we uphold the entire law, and stumble just once, we are guilty of breaking the entire law. So even one sin, can cause that barrier. Remember what Adam and Eve first did when they sinned against God, they hid from Him. Which is foolish, you cannot hide anything for our Father. I cannot say for sure, but I highly suspect that God will not punish you for sins you have committed but you have forgotten and not confessed to Him. Nearly every reading of the sinners prayer, the prayer that people say to be saved, says to name any sins that come foremost to your mind, and then ask forgiveness for all.

Personally, in my life, I sometimes think of things that I have done years ago, that just suddenly spring to mind and I ask forgiveness for them, there on the spot, no matter where I am. I pray that God will acknowledge my honesty with Him, if nothing else.

Most of us will enter with a little smoke on our garments! Our sins are forgiven! Believe that!

You don't need to remember everything you did wrong for everything to be forgiven. God's greater than our memory.

You won't enter heaven in sin. You'll enter heaven by Christ's cleansing.

Mmm, if by "accepts him" you mean "relies on him", that comes with good intentions and yes, those who rely on Jesus Christ are forgiven and cleansed from all sins -- even if through good intentions they only confess the sins they know.

Rejection of Jesus Christ as saviour is what gets people into hell.

Sin is not the issue. Christ died for sins. The penalty for sin is paid for. If you do sin (as a Christian) then you name your sin to God (1John 1:9), forget it and move on.

Well the old spirit of lust, is well alive and going well.

Well, what do you do. You can throw yourself down onto the ground and plead with our Lord Jesus Christ, but really mate, you need good, God-anointed Christian counselling, and teaching.

It's time that you really started true confession and repentance and have your broken-heart healed, delivered from evil, set free from captivity, and have your "house" filled, cleansed and delivered.

What qualifies someone for hell?

Committing just 1 sin in our entire lifetime qualifies someone for hell. Every person commits an innumerable amount our sins throughout our lifetimes, so we are all qualified for hell.

Not repenting of one's sins qualifies that person for hell.

Not believeing the gospel qualifies a person for hell.

So,

sin = hell / repent not = hell / believe not = hell

but,

sin + (repent + believe) = heaven

Mate, if you have the Holy Spirit in you, then you will be convicted when you sin. So don't start looking for ways out of leaving your "comfort zone"!

Well, if you don't feel sorry when you have a fight with your family, then you need counselling for your anger.

HIS WORD says not to let the sun set on anger.

HIS WORD says to forgive those who tresspass against you.

HIS WORD says to love your neighbours (that's your family) the same as you love our Lord Jesus Christ.

Now that is only three rules that if you don't comply by, then you are sinning.

There 60 types of sin, and I would say that you have committed them all.

Now you are trying to squirm your way out of really giving up your sins.

You invite our Lord Jesus Christ into your heart and still have good intentions, and you continue to sin, then you will be required to confess, and repent your sins. Now repent doesn't mean remorse or regret, it means you will not do it again.
