What is your confirmation name--and how did you choose it?

As a convert to Catholicism, I have been received into the Church (years ago actually) and of course have received Holy Communion--but due to various circumstances have never been confirmed (something I hope to rectify before long!!)

I'm already seeking a saint for my confirmation name--there are so many to choose from, and so many I admire!

I would love to hear other Catholics' stories about their own choice of confirmation saints/names--and what led you to choose that particular saint.

I chose St. Thomas Aquinas as my confirmation saint. He was a true inspiration for me (and continues to be) and I have always felt a strong spiritual connection to him.

As an interesting side note, out of the few dozen other people that were confirmed at the same time as me, I believe I was the only one to actually choose a confirmation name/saint.

I chose St. Joseph of Arimethea...I was watching Monty Python at the time.
I am happy I chose him though, I like to reflect on his life and how he followed Jesus and cared for His body, what that must have been like, etc...

I chose St. Sebastian for a couple of reasons:

1) He's basically part of the family --the small town in Sicily that my great grandparents come from has a huge devotion to him--which you can learn about here--the pictures are great! All the immigrants from their town settled in the same town here in the US and they built a church dedicted to St. Sebastian--it is a replica of the Basilica in Siciliy (to a much smaller scale)--they have also carried on the devotion to him (complete with parades like the ones on the pics in the link). As fate would have it, I just moved to that town and attend that church! Anyway, Sebastian is a big name in my family--it was my grandfather's name, my uncle's middle name, and the confirmation name of lots of people, including my dad--and everybody is buried in St. Sebastian's cemetary.

2) He is the patron saint of athletes. As someone who used to be a pretty intense athlete, this made him a perfect fit as well (although I didn't know he was the patron of athletes when I chose him!) Even though I have had to put my athletics aside after graduating college, St. Sebastian's strength and fortitude still inspires me!

I recently got my certificate of infatn baptism from the church of youth.
I am pretty sure I was confirmed, but have no clue what name I chose. Would they have it on record?

Not sure they would HD, but you it could be worth asking if your Church took those kid of records.

They would definitely have your Confirmation on record.

I just kept my baptism name

I chose St. John, and the reason was actually extremely weird.

I had heard from a friend that we are judged by faith only. And then I remember from James i think chapter 3 where it says "what is faith without works?" And the next day at Confirmation class they asked what my name wanted to be. I did not remember that we were supposed to pick that day, so I just said St. James!

Before the Church was expelled from Jerusalem and went to Rome, James played a huge role in starting the foundations of the Church.

I chose St. John--author of the 4th Gospel. It has always been my favorite Gospel because of the beautiful imagery he uses that has a way of soothing me.

I chose Our Lady, St Mary. As I struggle sometimes with the fact I gave my son up for adoption St. Mary has been a role model for me. Praying the Rosary has given me such strength.

For my baptism name I chose St. Anne (Mother of Our Lady), and it was a total random choice as Father Fryar had forgotten to tell me I needed one.

But on the bright side when Swoosh and I get married, I'm changing my middle name to Anne.

I chose The Little Flower, St. Therese of Liseux I had never heard of her before I lived with my Aunt for a few months. I started smelling a flower like smell in my dresser drawers and myself and my aunt tried to figure out, why it was there but never could. My aunts mother said Well maybe St. Therese is back there with you, after that I never really paid much mind til I saw the trailer for the movie online, I loved it especially the music! ( I was a violinist for 8 years) After that, I decided to look into her life, and I was amazed at the courage she had, even when she was so ill as she was.

The Roman Catholic Chaplain here on base, I tried to give him my prayer card to her, and he was like No you keep it, you should pray to her, shes a good saint. Also later on he said, pay attention to her life, she's your saint!.

Anywho, St. Therese is very special to my aunt's family because when my aunt's father was sick with cancer they found a prayer card, that they had came across, and began praying to her, and he got through it!

Oh by the way, the night I was brought into the Church, I was given a bouquet of pink roses by a friend, and everyone was like Oh, St. Therese!

I am praying about conversion now days.... I havent converted.......yet....... But for what My humble opinion is, Your name here is of My Favorite Saint. As those whom may have read My few posts thus far know. Jehanne D'Arc has brought Me so close to God its crazy! But GOOD CRAZY!

When I finally get around to completing RCIA and officially join the Church, I'm going to chose St. Cecilia. I just love her and I know she's the saint for me She's the patron saint of choir singers, which I was in high school for 4 years..I just love to sing, I love music in general..and I really love her story.

Mine is Michael. At the time I don't remember why I chose it or I just picked a random name. I think either way it came to me, it was meant to be, and I didn't realize it. I didn't have much of an understanding of confirmation then, I was just forced to go to CCD...mostly spent my time there drawing cartoons/comics and joking around and didn't take things seriously until years later.
