I read the bible everyday and learn from it.

I goto a bible study once a week and love it and learn from it.

My barns are full because of the Lord. He rains down blessings on me.

I love the Lord.

Pray to him 3 or 4 times a day every day.

Despite all this I never goto church on a regular basis. It feels like a chore. I go I sit I listen and it is a struggle just to stay awake. I sit in church and just cannot wait for it to be over. Alot of Sundays, like today, I just do not go at all.

I go with no expectations. I do not go to be entertained. I go to worship my father and show him the love and respect he deserves. I am just never moved or inspired to goto church.

I have tried different churches and talked with many minisiters.

I have tried all kind of different approaches.

I am called to teach his word when I am done with school. I think to myself how can I teach his word at church when I myself cannot goto church every Sunday.

What is wrong with me?

I've had similiar experiences as have many others. Ocassionally a new church is the answer, but often we find the problem wherever we go because the problem is with us and not the church necessarily.
Might I suggest you examine your perceptions of church. Is it just somewhere you go, something you do or is it something you're part of, something you are? Most of us now realise that church isn't just a building, but many of us are still trapped with the notion that church is just a service. Church is meant to be so much more - it's a community, a body, a family, a living thing that we're called to be a part of.
If church is something you just sit back and watch, it's not church at all. Every part of the body has a function and a part to play. Have you become actively involved in the life of your church? We're designed to be in service of God and each other. Are you a servant to your local church? If God's called you to bigger things in the body, are you active in the little things in the body now?
I have no idea if these things are applicable for you or not, but I do know that they were certainly areas that needed adressing in my life when I felt the same way. Either way I hope you find fulfillment in your church and I pray that God provide you with a clear answer to your concerns.

Liturgy's good, not just because you're praying during most of the service, but you don't sit still for more than 5 minutes or so, and usually the sermons are short so they get to the point really quick.

Try finding a church with a good fellowship mentality too, with people who will actually make eye contact with you, and who will smile at you. It seems that you've got a good spiritual life, but fellowship with other Christians is so important for edification. And FYI Anglicans, Episcopaleans, Catholics, and Eastern Orthodox usually have good fellowship times too.

I used to go to a church that was really boring and I also reluctantly went because I thought it was my duty as a Christian. However, I soon realized that whenever something becomes a chore, it needs to be re-evaluated. I eventually ended up in a non-denominational church that I really enjoy.

I'm in the Catholic Church right now. Just out of curiosity, what are the other major liturgical churches besides the Anglican, catholic, and orthodox churches? I'd like to know.

There is nothing wrong with you....I find that following a wide variety of morals and philosophy leads to the greater mind....

Read books from other religions and philosophers....come to your own conclusions....

Broaden your mind but moderate it while doing so....

Morals and spirituality is far greater than religion....

A liturgical church has some of the same things from week to week, such as they may start off with an invocation that calls upon the Lord. They may move on to declare themselves sinners before God and the absolution may be given to the congregation. An introit could be chanted next, maybe readings following that, Old Testament, Epistle and then Gospel. Prayers, offering, sermon and then the Lord's Supper. After that a benediction and add a few hymns here and there.

Some churches don't see worship as just what WE DO, but more of what God does for us! He feeds us with His Word throughout the service and in a liturgical service, it is FILLED with scripture! You'd be amazed!

Try another view of going to church instead of one where you "have" to go, but one of where you "get" to go and God is blessing you throughout :D You, in turn will want to praise and give thanksgiving after seeing services in a different mindset.

Oh, BTW, Lutherans usually have a liturgical service as well :)

Dear Brother. God wants us to fellowship with our Christian brothers and sisters. Something is blocking you and it may be satanic. May the power of the blood of the Lamb surround you and protect you in your everyday walk with the Lord. Praise the Lord in everything you do. Pray to the Holy Spirit to be filled with Joy. We need to show our love to others, start with people who need you at your local church, If your church is not Spirit filled, maybe find one that is or do some volunteer work for a Gospel mission downtown for homeless people. Give your love to others and God will bless you with Hid un-ending love. May your life be filled with Joy. Be hungry for the Lord. Other people have much to offer. Learn to show love. All said with respect.. Pam

The Methodist are also liturgical. There is absolutely nothing wrong. You simply don't respond like some people and aren't afraid to admit it like many others. The church is not neccesarily something that is based on or around a sermon. Look at how Paul describes church and the congregation pastor relationship. Church is a place for fellowship and embracing and helping our brothers and sisters in Christ. Forego the sermon and involve yourself in a good Sunday School class that is discussion based or in a discussion based Bible Study. After involving yourself in one of these try the service again. You may find you like it and if you don't then don't let it bother you. Simply continue in your walk with the Lord and in your small group, discussion based fellowship. Our idea of church is a manmade thing not a structure divinely perceived.

How old are you? Do you get enough sleep on Saturday? What bores you? Are the sermons not well though out?

I feel the exact same way. I noticed many months ago that while I seemed to be paying active attention in my church's services, I wasn't paying attention to what was being said. Rather, I was counting through the regular parts of the service schedule, mentally checking segments of the service off on my program as we finished them; in other words, I was so bored I was actually counting down to when I could leave!

It was then that I decided that for whatever reason, the regular Sunday service just wasn't for me. I'm not into sing-alongs (I like to sing, just not around other people, and not the usual hymns and such, which I honestly find quite boring), the sermons may have taught me something here and there but didn't really engage me overall, I couldn't concentrate in those stuffy, uncomfortable pews. I could go on but I think you get the point. So I stopped going to Sunday service. Instead, I now go to special group-based stuff that my church has on Wednesday nights. Up until last month, I went to a special middle/high school service they had on Wednesday nights. I found myself much more engaged. While I still wasn't incredibly keen on the singing, the music was at least much more pleasant for me, and so I could at least focus on God rather than on how bored I was. And there weren't really sermons so much as dynamic, interactive lessons. They were structured similarly to sermons, but they had brief periods where we would break off into groups and discuss a question posed by the minister. I learned much more from those than I ever did from Sunday sermons.

I can't attend those right now because they don't have it during summer for some reason, and I'll be going to college this fall, so I'll technically be too old to attend it. However, there are several college students who still go to the so-called "middle school and high school service," which I think is a testament to how engaging and enjoyable it is. If you have something at your church like that, I highly recommend trying it out.

I am a Bible Believing Baptist.

I believe in salvation not of works lest any man should boast. None of this saved through water baptism . Though water baptism is good and should be done. Not to get to Heaven, but should be a thing of obedence. Also, NONE of this church membership saves you , or praying to a priest to get your sins forgiven. Only Jesus can forgive sin. None of this endure to the end to be saved . None of this praying to Mary ! She was a sinner just like the rest of us! None of this good works gets you to Heaven ! "For we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God." "For all of our rightiousness, is of filthy rags." And yes I believe in the term saved. "You MUST be born again to see the kingdom of God." I also believe in enternal security. One saved, always saved!

I bet your wondering why I said all of that. Well most of the people that has responed to your post, are either Catholic, Orthadox, Lutheran, or Methodist. You should NOT listen to ANY of them! Look at what they believe in. They believe in praying to a preist for the forgiveness of sins. They believe the pope is perfect and sinless. The pope is a sinner like the rest of us. The Catholics are responsible for the death of many of the Matyred Christians in the dark ages. They believe that when you take the Lord's Supper you are actaully eating and drinking the actual flesh and blood of Jesus. The Modern Day Methodist is as LIBERAL as you can get. The Modern Day Methodist has some beliefs about them. They don't believe in Baptism by imersion. They believe in sprinkling. Which is not Baptism. It's just getting your head wet! That's all it is.

You should go by this verse in the matter of going to church, "Forsake not the assembling of yourself as the manner of such is."

I have been going to church for a around four years now and I have extremely enjoyed every minute of it.

There is nothing wrong with you. I know that some chruches are as boring and non-exciting as you can get! But do not get disscouraged there is tons of good Bible Believing Chruches out there. Do NOT loose hope. Ask God what his will is about your situation and where he wants you to go to church. God wants to give you his absolute best for your life. When I got saved everyday I prayed and asked God to give me a good Church I could go to. And soon after that he did! I believe church is one of the most exciting places to go. And also one of the most happiest places to go. I love my chruch and the people in it.

And that is the Bible Truth!
Jesus speaking: "You shall know the truth AND the truth SHALL set you free."

I hope what I have said has helped you some.

Have a good and blessed day!

(P.S.- The one who talked about looking into other religions and other religious books and saying you can believe what you want. You are one person to say that . Because the King James Version Holy Bible is the ONE and ONLY final authority for a Chistian. Not anything or anybody else! "There is only one name under Heaven that a person can be saved.")

BibleBeliever, just for the record, resorting to name-calling probably isn't the best way to get people to see things your way.

Chainer, it sounds to me like you need to do a bit of "church shopping." It took going to several different churches (more than once time for each church) to finally find one that really seems to be a good fit and, more importantly, where God wants me to be.
