What is the truth?
The truth is:

I'm not as funny as I thought I was
I'm not as thin as I used to be
I tell lies even when I think I'm telling the truth
I don't follow the Gospels religiously. Should I?
elusive and maybe it should stay that way
I spend too much time on these forums but what the Hell....

"What is the truth?" Is that a good question to ask? If not, what is a better question to ask?

The truth is we shouldn't judge people, especially those who have clinical depression and other serious disabilities. So, they are receiving a handout from the government. That is not for me to judge. Would you be prepared to swap places with them? Swap your life for theirs? I don't think so.

Notice Jesus didn't write anything and John's Gospel was written decades later, maybe not even an eyewitness, so there's a chance Jesus didn't even say that.

I think Christians still need to keep searching. Searching for nuances of meanings in the Bible. because may be they only have a superficial understanding of it.
There is a danger in saying "I've arrived". Because then you tend to relax and think "I don't need to learn anymore".
God is mysterious. And even the Catholic Pope doesn't know everything about Him.
My advice to you is, yes you've made a good choice, but still keep an open mind, and value other perspectives.

I don't believe I've arrived about everything, but I DO certainly believe in the exclusivity of Christ. There are some things that can not be compromised.

John DEFINITELY was an eye witness, he was an Apostle and that was one of the qualifications of being one, you had to have witnessed Christ life, death, and resurrection...
