What is the purpose of this life?

My personal belief of what the purpose of living life on Earth is; it is the trial of mankind to determine who will be redeemed / given salvation and who will perish along with Lucifer.

What is the purpose of this life?

We were created to love, praise and obey God. When God created Adam and Eve, they had a intimate relationship with Him. It broke as soon as they sinned. All humanity sinned in Adam, and in that moment we are not capable of doing what we were created for. We live in rebellion with God, but we are also dead in our sins. Thus life has no meaning when we are sin. We are nothing without God.

The Son of God in His grace came up to fix this broken relationship, which we can do nothing about. He defeated sin and death in cross, and those who receive Him have their relationship with God renewed. Once we are in Jesus, through Him, we are able to do what we were created for. The purpose of are life is to give glory to God. That is why He created everything, for His glory.

Worthy are you, our Lord and God,

to receive glory and honor and power,

for you created all things,

and by your will they existed and were created.”

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

We were created to help others, following the model Jesus demonstrated with His life.

Galatians 5:14
For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Luke 10:27
And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

Galatians 6:10
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

What is the purpose of this life?

To live according to GOD's will, bringing Honour and Glory to GOD in all aspects of our lives both by our words and by our deeds with thanks and praise always. If we truly live for GOD, we truly live a bountiful life for ourselves from now and through eternity. So many fail to understand this because they are so attached to the world. Even many Christians are oblivious to it but for some that have experienced even a small part of living for GOD, will understand.

Peace be to all those in the Body of Christ.

What is the purpose of this life?
The purpose of life on earth is to bring the sinful elect, sheep gone astray into sin, to a decision to come out for among the world and touch not their uncleanness to become separate from the weeds by their holiness so the weeds may finally be gathered and burned.

Since GODly and holy living speeds up the coming of the day of judgement (implying that stubbornness in sin delays it): 2 Peter 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and speeding / hastening the coming of the day of GOD.
the need for the holiness of the sinful elect is the reason that the good seed must endure the weeds in their lives till they are trained in righteousness, Heb 12:5-11, made holy and heaven ready... finally.

I would be most grateful if non-Orthodox posters would remember that this thread was started in TAW by an Orthodox member and clearly was wanting responses from Orthodox Christians.

If you want to walk in Faith then go with your Light desires. They are the opposite for your dark desires. This will. Are sure that you become the best version of yourself, you move close to God as possible and you may be judged a heaven family member at the final say. You will succeed in this life, living a life on your terms (from your Light) and you will walk in faith which is even more important.
Read Galatians and you will find this at the end, with just a little reasoning you can see how this is the ultimate formula for REAL success.

So my soliloquy is DESIRES. Light Desires are the opposite of your dark desires.
Peace.

He established the Monastery of the Holy Theotokos in Dunlap close by me here. It’s about a 50-minute drive. LOVELY.

I been to three of his monasteries and met him at St Anthony’s.
