There seems to be a holy war about what the Christian is obligated to preform after being born again. I'd like to see both sides of this war supported with Scripture.

So... I battled with this for quite a while. Reading Galatians helped me to calm down about this, and realize that obeying the New Testament is all that I was required to do.

There is a forum for Sabbath and Law debate? I seriously think there is too many forums on this site.

The Christian is obligated to obey the moral law, summarized under the two great commandments, and the positive laws of the New Testament.

Well can we first determine what we mean by being born again? According to all the teachings of Christianity, being born again is a process of water baptism and chrismation. Afterwards one is expected to participate in the sacramental life of the Church.

Here is my witness of Yeshua's Word.

Messiah's spoken words are the Law of the Spirit.

The Law of the Spirit is the Law of Messiah.

There's also Hebrews, Romans and the book of John. All reinforce Galatians.

    Here are some more scriptures.

2 Cor 5:21 God made this sinless man be a sin offering on our behalf, so that in union with him we might fully share in God’s righteousness.”

    Gal 3:26 For in union with the Messiah, you are all children of God through this trusting faithfulness;

3:28 there is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor freeman, neither male nor female; for in union with the Messiah Yeshua, you are all one.

Acts 15:11 it is through the love and kindness of the Lord Yeshua that we trust and are delivered

Hab 2:4 the righteous will attain life through trusting faithfulness.

1 Yochanan 4:16 we have come to know and trust the love that God has for us. God is love; and those who remain in this love remain united with God, and God remains united with them.

Romans 6:11 In the same way, consider yourselves to be dead to sin but alive for God, by your union with the Messiah Yeshua.

6:23 For what one earns from sin is death; but eternal life is what one receives as a free gift from God, in union with the Messiah Yeshua, our Lord.

8:1 Therefore, there is no longer any condemnation awaiting those who are in union with the Messiah Yeshua.

8:2 Why? Because the Torah of the Spirit, which produces this life in union with Messiah Yeshua, has set me free from the “Torah” of sin and death.

Mt 23:23 “Woe to you hypocritical Torah-teachers and P’rushim! You pay your tithes of mint, dill and cumin; but you have neglected the weightier matters of the Torah — justice, mercy, trust. These are the things you should have attended to — without neglecting the others!

Mt 12:7 If you knew what `I want compassion rather than animal-sacrifice’ meant, you would not condemn the innocent. This is why, on coming into the world, he says,

Mt 9:13 As for you, go and learn what this means: `I want compassion rather than animal-sacrifices.’ For I didn’t come to call the `righteous,’ but sinners!”

Heb 10:5 “It has not been your will to have an animal sacrifice and a meal offering; rather, you have prepared for me a body.

Notice what Yeshua wants most of all is not legalistic observances of inward heart convictions but, compassion, mercy, trust, justice, freedom, love, faithfulness. THESE are the observances of Torah he desires, not legalistic physical shows of piety or duty.

I battled with it for about four decades before being delivered. That included a direct revelation from the Holy Spirit about what covenant I was obligated to. I always resisted out right legalism but still felt condemned. Legalism created lots of pain for me and pain I inflicted on others in my teens. The subtle application of legalism taught and practiced by so called grace oriented churches was the main culprit of my agony. I do have one gift from God that I greatly love and appreciate - curiosity. That gift makes me ask questions even until people get upset.

Love biblehub. Do you care to post what you believe these passages mean in this thread? I think they're discussed elsewhere in the forum.

I think this thread is within the pale of the Sabbath and Law forum. I do think it would fit in a couple other sections of CF.

This is so vague it could mean anything. At best I think you obligate Christians to religion.

It's debated here what "the Law of the Spirit" actually is. Would you please explain what you think it is?

Well the bible says "do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together", "if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive", "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day".

That describes the sacramental life of the Church more or less.

    Not....

    As written

"born again" by the Will of Yahweh, NOT of man, nor of the flesh...

"circumcised heart" not by hands, not by man,

    for example:
Circumcision of the Heart - The Secret to Living Set Apart
"Circumcision of the Heart – The Secret to Living Set Apart

Due to centuries of man-made doctrine and church’s propensity for hyper-spiritualization, the definition of a “circumcised heart” has lost much of it’s meaning. Because of this error, our perception is so skewed that there are those who believe they are walking with a circumcised heart when they are actually living according to their own rules and standards. Even the most “die-hard” christian will believe this fallacy. There are many who read their Bibles every day, go to church on Sunday, never cuss, never drink, stay away from rated “R” movies, fast, pray and pursue Jesus in every way they know how, but according to the Word, their hearts are still not circumcised. If these people aren’t living holy (“set apart”) lives for YHWH, what hope do the rest of us have?

Well, there is hope. It is possible to actually walk in a holy (“set apart”) manner before your Creator with a real circumcised heart. How is this done?

The first step is to get back to a biblical definition and understanding of a circumcised heart. Don’t worry, it’s not a complex topic, nor is it a “hyper-spiritual” one… it’s actually quite practical."

Here's a "biblical teaching" for you:

[IMG]Act 2:38 - Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Take your objections up with the writer of Acts.

    Learn the truth.
All Scripture is truth. (Acts is Truth) No objections to Scripture. Sorry for your mis-understanding.
