The Scriptures talk about salvation in past, present, and future tenses. I am saved, I am being saved, and I will be saved.
Correct.

We HAVE BEEN saved from the penalty of sin. (past)
We are BEING saved from the power of sin. (present)
We WILL BE saved from the very presence of sin. (future)

The first is the "Gospel." The second and third come under "Apostles teachings."

Surely you don't think the gospel only has to do with the past tense, do you?

If you are PRESENTLY an unbeliever, no.
But once you have become a believer, yes.

Hmmm. Well I disagree. I think Jesus saved me from God's wrath, saves me from present sin in my life by purifying me, and he will save me on the last day when he returns. All of that is part of the gospel.

Hmmm. Well I disagree.
And that is fine. I have many good brothers in the Lord that I disagree with on many things. But we still are together in HIM.

The difference between the new covenant and the old is the gospel, the availability of "rest":

Hebrews 4
8For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. 9So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. 10For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. 11Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.

The old covenant saints longed to see it's coming.

I have no problem with meeting daily. But the Sabbath command only requires meeting once every seven days. If people want to meet more often that's awesome!

I'm confused. I thought that the gospel was the apostles' doctrine? Did the apostles teach something different from the gospel of Jesus and his kingdom?

I'm sorry I must be confused here as well. As I read the book of Acts I see the apostles baptizing and commanding people to be baptized. Also as I read the apostle Paul and the Lord Jesus' words in the gospel I see an emphasis on celebrating the Lord's supper together. This could certainly happen within the context of a community meal.

Your response indicates a lack of understanding of the truth of the scriptures. You are just parroting what others have said. Study it in depth as I have, and you will find out the truth which is not what you said..

The most important spiritual discipline, act that improves spiritual health, is eating and drinking from the Rock.

Unfortunately, that isn't happening in our "churches".

It happens if you follow the instructions, ask for nutrition, daily.

Does this mean reading Scripture?

There wasn't any scripture in the wilderness. God taught israel that man does not live on bread but from every word that went forth from His mouth.

He with held food. He needed them to trust Him for it. He with held safety. He conveyed that He expected trust, loyalty, faith (mistranslated as belief) for EVERYTHING.

Abraham finally got it, as did Joshua. Jesus went through the lessons without blinking.

Serve Egypt (mammon, the world, take your pick) or serve God.

1 Corinthians 10
6Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 7Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.”a 8We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. 9We should not test Christ,b as some of them did—and were killed by snakes. 10And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel.

11These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.

Are you depending on God for your nourishment, your rest, your life...?

Oh, spiritual disciplines, not gifts, or fruits of repentance...

I don't know about spiritual disciplines, but the greatest spiritual gift, would be self-control in my opinion, for this day and age most especially...

God Bless!

Isaiah chapter 16 verse 5
In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it-- one from the house of David-- one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.
1 Peter chapter 4 verse 8
Love covers many sins.
The bible has nothing good to say about pastors.

Hi,

I just discovered this thread. I think it will go a long way toward helping you prepare for the oral examination. What do you mean when you say, "The bible has nothing good to say about pastors?"

Faithfully,

Faithfully,
Name a verse that says something good about pastors.
Hosea chapter 4

6 my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.

“Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also reject you as my priests;
because you have ignored the law of your God,
I also will ignore your children.

This verse has nothing at all to do with pastors. It is written for the benefit of Israel.
