I really enjoyed this video which not only analyzed the origins of the creature Leviathan in the Old Testament, but did some comparative religion study of that theme/ concept in other cultures/ religions around the World.

I believe it’s a symbolic metaphor to refer to the devil, or perhaps it is a form he takes, the piercing of the dragon referred to in Isaiah is Satan’s fall from heaven and his later defeat by Christ in the resurrection, that is also depicted in the book of Revelation where we see Satan being described as a large serpent or dragon. The circular of the Earth might be a reference to how Satan slithers around all mankind tempting them with sin, with no spear or arrow of any mortal man able to harm him except the “Arm of the Lord” who is Christ the Logos and God the Son Incarnate. These are my thoughts on Leviathan as being a literal and direct reference to Satan.
