I would ask this elsewhere but don't think I would get a response.

I will admit it is a good game but it isn't THAT good and it is a very simplistic version of other TCGs that are around so what is it that makes this such a popular game? Am I missing something? (not the series/movie preferably)

Also does anyone still remember/play the classic and greatest TCG ever - Magic: The Gathering?

Maybe its just the anime, the manga, the video games, the cards themselves. Who knows. I know for me I started to collect cause I wanted to learn how to play it. 3 years later, I keep collecting to improve my collection and my deck. I only collected few other card games before but I had barely any problems playing yu-gi-oh compare to the other card games I had collected. Also most of the card games I collected no one else play them. So I stay with yu-gi-oh cause there are so many who collect and play the game. Maybe for some it makes them feel like they favorite yu-gi-oh characters.

Oh yes! I remember! I used to play just about everyday. I'd pack up my cards and run up to the local comic book store and play my heart out. Then, it just seemed like everyone started having the newer, better cards that were coming out, and I couldn't afford to keep up so I sold all my 1st edition mirage cards.

This Yu-Gi-Oh thing is one of those phase things, like pokemon cards were. Soon, the show will flop (if it hasn't already?) and the cards will disappear in a year.

Unlike MTG, which from what I have heard is still a big deal. It's our generations Dungeons and Dragons. :D

NOTHING will ever reach to MTG because it's been there for so many years and its still running having no signs of slowing down. They are the exception to TCG games. Yu Gi Oh will eventually run out of cards. By the way, I am selling them. I guess I should make a list...*sigh* this will suck.
