Not 15 years younger, older maybe for me, but my second husband was 17 years younger and it turned out to be a disaster. Completely different life stage. But on the other hand, my first ex was 12 years older, that was a good marriage. He was 37 when I met him.

Depends a lot on the life stages a person is at, and maturity. I would probably date 10 years younger, depending on the person, and 5 years older. After being with the same man for over 20 years, and married for 18 years, its tough being in the position now of looking for someone to spend the rest of my life with. From what Im seeing so far, a lot of men my age are looking for much younger women, or women who can still have children. Either that or they are already taken, or not Christian, or even just looking for a good time.

welll there is a bit of a sstigma attached. I am 50 and was going out with
someone 20 years younger. She had to break it off as people were making fun of her.
Still hurts a lot, but there were problems in things we liked to do difficult to find common ground.
So no; i wuold go out with someone no less than 5 years either way.

What would you consider an appropriate age range to date again if you are in you 40's? five years? ten years? fifteen years?

My wife is exactly 13 years and 8 months older than I am. We have been happily married since November 11 1999, we started out as friends in July of 1998. We are the best of friends.

Now I personally feel that once one gets beyond 15 years, there is nothing in common, the generation gap is to wide.

I think what helps with me and Lin is I was my parents first born, and my mom had custody of her 3 youngest siblings who are about my my wifes age, and I grew up with them acting more like my older brothers and sister.

Not Always, my uncle has a happy marriage and she's a few years older than his daughter. He's now 78 and she's in her fifties. They met when she was in her twenties, he was her music teacher.

There is nothing wrong with being single, you know. I would prefer to have my complete personal, social, and financial freedom. It's a shame more women today don't hold those things more dear to them and stand firmly against giving them up just for the sake of being able to say they are "with someone."

I agree, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being single, and me wanting to meet someone and marry at some point is not just for the sake of being able to say I'm with someone. Perhaps I didnt word it well.

For most, 10 years age difference. For me personally, well, I have no children, so when I "look" I usually look for someone closer to my age range, but still capable (and willing) to have children.

On the other hand, my grandmother's brother was 68 when he married. His wife was 22. Theyre still married after 20 years.

My fiancee is almost exactly 11 years younger than I am, the age difference at this point in our lives is really not much of an issue other than they occasional joke about tastes in music or something. One set of her grandparents had a 20 year difference in age, and they lived happily ever after.

I think: it depends... is the answer.
