What is a Republican?

Just the other day the RNC came out with a memo basically saying if you do no support the repeal of abortion, you will not get any support from the RNC.

What is a Republican is becoming more and more narrow every day.
True, it sounds like they've taken the Dem playbook thinking it could work for them as well.

One thing that struck me in reading this was the fact that I actually admired Ted Cruz for the fact that he used populist language in bringing up wealth discrepancy in the country. Of course where Cruz and I differ is in that he puts the blame all on the President and his policies whereas I put the blame on an increasingly unfettered capitalist system - no matter who is at it's head.

But to answer your question, no, I'm not joining the teacup society. I'm just pointing out how some of your own - if you vote Republican - have real good ideas on how to save the GOP from oblivion. Do with it what you will.
here hasnt been a UNFETTERED capitalist system here for awhile. Go to sweden or switzerland for something closer to that. maybe thats why there arent any jobs or growth here anymore.

Of course, nothing to do with outsourcing to third world countries for the sake of cheap labor.

The last real Republican. Who wouldn't recognize his party today.

That man was a socialist! Don't you know how he nationalized the highways with public money?

Ahahah. Good joke. Right up there with Obama being a Communist.

You were joking, right?

Based on the linked article, I would say that he's arguing for the exact opposite.

It isn't an article in the standard sense, it is a blog post. For some reason Stamp seems to believe everything the guy has to say should be echoed here.

Why not? How many threads did we have to put up with when some moron saw an article about how Obama was a secret Muslim or was born in Kenya?

I don't know, how many? I looked through the first six pages of the politics forum and I did not see one thread on how Obama was a secret Muslim or born in Kenya. But I guess we are supposed to simply accept they are proliferate on CF because you say so.

Don't know who the author is, and contrary to some thread participants here who can't grasp the evolution of the GOP when it came to the south and race, the article knocks it out the park.

The article parrots the same revisionist history and draws the same faulty conclusions which prevailed in the thread you hint at. Here is the point of the linked post, quote:

"So, what is a Republican? Too often it is someone willing to let every political position be vetted and shaped by a small but powerful core of religious extremists and latent racists."

Again, idiotic sophistry on the part of the author.

Be it known I have gone to GOPlifer's site and am engaging in debate there. As for CF, Stamp is certainly free to post what links he needs to support an argument, but that isn't what is being done in this case. Stamp is continually posting links to someone else's blog site and then asking us to discuss what was written there. My response is simple. If GOPlifer wants his thoughts debated here, he should come here and debate them himself.

As for why I post some of the blogs of his, I've said it time and again that it is to make some of the posters here think about their party, where it's going and maybe, just maybe what can be done to have it relate to what reality in the country is. Take it for what it's worth, discuss it or not. I know that there have been several times that these threads have gotten upwards of 100 views and no comments, so to say that I'm "asking" for discussion is a misnomer.

You can find enough to keep you busy reading if you use the search function. Select "post" and type in "Obama Socialist" or "Obama Kenya Socialist" in the search bar. It will take you straight to each post that includes those keywords. Obama being a commie, socialist, not a citizen of the US but actually a Kenyan citizen, etc.. are common rhetoric here and it wont take too long to find some more popping up if you pay attention for it. It does seem the birther aspect has slowed down a little though. I wonder if a few of the people on that bandwagon either left or got tossed? The commie socialist Muslim part is always in high gear however.

I just straight up admit to being a RINO. I won't align with the all-too-often overt racism of the Tea Party types, although I liked some of their ideas. I'm also on the opposite end of most Republicans on a few social issues. We aren't all products of white male Southerners. Far from it.
I think that makes you an independent rather than a RINO.

That's what I was thinking. Perhaps it's time to get rid of that elephant logo.

Or perhaps scraparcs should start a moderate breakaway party and make the rhino its mascot. ;)

Thankfully, new threads on the subject are few and far in between here in the Political subforum, though that's mainly because Herbie and his sock account Oathkeeper are no longer with us.

Yes, that is the point. Here is the thing though; that small and powerful group is overcoming the GOP. That group is becoming so powerful those who wish to speak out, dare not to, and it's why so many are quitting. It is why the GOP is morphing into varying groups.

Yes, that is the point.

But it is a flawed point. To those on the left anyone who admits to being a Christian is labeled as a religious extremist, and anyone who admits to being either a Conservative or a Republican is labeled as a racist. This is intentionally done in an effort to silence the opposition, and whether by design or through ignorance Lifer is promoting that ideal.

Here is the thing though; that small and powerful group is overcoming the GOP. That group is becoming so powerful those who wish to speak out, dare not to, and it's why so many are quitting. It is why the GOP is morphing into varying groups.

The GOP is being manipulated by fear, in that you are correct. However in case some here have yet to realize it I am not a cheerleader for the Republican party. I am a Conservative. As such I take issue with the point made, as it has little grounding in reality and is promoted in an effort to fragment the party. Something the Republicans seem quite willing to fall prey to.
