I live in Wisconsin, a large food producing state, especially dairy products. What I have noticed at the store where I shop is that prices have not gone up noticeably (and surprisingly).

Although some items are no longer available.

Prepared food is always more expensive. Whether its canned, frozen, or in the deli. You’re paying a premium for the legwork. That’s why many preserve their own fruits and vegetables. The cost savings are significant when you work out the numbers.

1 jar of organic preserves is $4 in my area. I can purchase 2 pints of organic fruit for that price (on sale). That will net me 2 jars and a smidge left over with better ingredients and no additives.

Seasonal eating is less expensive. Many items can be made at home with little effort. That includes food and home goods.

I purchased an 1/8 of a cow. I paid $418 dollars ($3.99/pound) for 105 pounds of custom cut grass-fed beef from the hind quarter including organ meat.

I'm in Wisconsin too, and I've noticed that egg prices went way up but it's being under-reported. It's said that they've increased by 16%. Not so. They used to be .99 cents, and then went up to $2.61, and then settled back to $1.48. That was a 162% increase, and down to 49% increase. If it were only 16% (which the Press implied was a huge increase), the price would be $1.15.

When restaurants reopen I think in very a short time we will see 25% increases. And as we know, once prices go up they almost never come down.

It won't surprise me. Food prices in general are going up, which will increase their costs. Plus they'll want to make up for lost revenue for the past couple months.
