I am trying to make a romantic evening for my husband and I :) Since he's been so stressed lately with work!

I've made his favorite soup (kind of a vegatable beef) and am also making a fruit salad (apples, grapes and melons with an orange dressing) for dinner

I am curious what else I can put with this combination? Beverage wise? Desert Wise?

I am no good in the kitchen and looking for what tastes would go well with this!!

Thank you so much in advance ;)

Hello Snickerdoodle !!

If your hubby is stressed out from a long day ... I'd do the following !!
As I have done this for my husband a few times & I must say the outcome was wonderful !!

1. Find a babysitter ( that is if you have kids ) close by ... GRANDPARENTS are GOOD FOR THAT & see if they can watch the kids for awhile !! NOTE: If your kids are all grown up & on there own then just jump right to the next step !!

2. Great him at the DOOR & present him w/a LONG STEM RED ROSE & in something SEXY !!

3. Set the table wih CANDLES & MOOD MUSIC in the background.

4. Prepare his favorite meal or be creative !!

5. For a drink may I suggest something that I always get for our anniversary & that is something called: SPARKING CIDER / SPARKLING GRAPE JUICE ( white or grape ) is always good too. Be sure that it's CHILLED & PLENTY COLD !!

6. For dessert some some FRESH ... BIG ... RIPE STRAWBERRIES & serve them up with either MELTED - CHOCOLATE or WHIP CREAM. :yum:

7. Have the mood music in the background.

8. Then let NATURE take it's course ... he might want to think about giving him either a backrub or massage or just sit back & relax with a ROMANTIC MOVIE ... suggestion here: CHOCOLAT is a really good one !! ( that is if your husband is into CHICK FLICKS )

There you have snickerdoodle ... try these & then PM me & let me know how things go for you & your hubby. I have a web site in mind that might help out too but I will have to find it and when I do ... I will post it here for you so stay tune & stay in touch !!

... i really dont think that fruit salad goes very well with vegetable beef soup...

but whatever

is it vegetable beef soup or is it more of a stew?

because you dont want to have a thin dessert if its a thin consisitency... so if its more soupy, serve something like brownies ala mode, something thats the opposite consistency...

but if its more stewy, perhaps a light cake, like angelfood or sponge cake... something light, because the stew is filling... and especially dont make the dessert rich... it will be overwhelming

as far as drink, make the drink appeal to both the dinner and the dessert...
probably a cider of some sort... maybe something iced... though a hot drink would be good.
