The Glory of God...

What a wonderful question. The Glory of God, in my opinion is many things. When it concerns us as His followers, it is to who glory and honor when we give up our lives to honor His name, which when we give up ourselves like that we get to experience His Glory in so many small ways... once experiencing this, its hard to ever forget it and hard to leave.

His Glory is also experienced during worship, to Glorify and left up His Majesty!

Man I don't know what else to say, its just such a beautiful thing, that it's hard to really pin point exactly what it is...

Even the most vile Evil wicked, and swearing at God hating person, is overcome by the Glory of God, in about half a second.

Nobody wants to ever leave the presence of God ever again once they come into his presence....unless God created them to be resistant to Gods Glory.

Satan is one of Gods creations that God created to be resistant....otherwise Satan would not serve Gods purpose for him.

To be the accuser of the Character of God, and assisting God to shut up all in disobedience that he may show mercy to all.

The Glory of God, like the highness of Gods ways, can in no way be described by mere words.
There are no adjectives superlative enough within the English language to describe the Glory of God.

Suffice to say....that one day....all flesh....which includes every human being and every animal that has ever lived, will bear wittness in person to the Glory of God!

Grace and Peace to you all

The time is coming to gather all nations and tongues. And they shall come and see God’s glory. All mankind [lit., flesh] will come to bow down before Him (Isaiah 66:18,23).

I do not support that God creates people to be "resistant" to His Glory, that would suggest predestination and that's not a topic I even want to discuss.

I believe people harden their hearts and separate themselves from God through sin, which then becomes a resistor to His Glory. Though truly in His Glory all bondages and sins begin to melt away and an experience of understanding and self submission begins...

You will find that Scripture states that God is soveriegn over all....and that God hardens who he desires and shows mercy to whom he desires....and that nobody can resist his will (Romans 9.19)

You are excising the only Free Will you have in the sight of God here however....and that is weather you believe the word of God or not.

It wont make a spit of difference in the end....scripture proof text stands in every instance in the end, no matter what any person chooses to believe, what has proceeded out of the mouth of God...will happen.

Peace

It's important to remember that those He chooses to have this hardness, He has good reason to. Obviously someone who may be chasing Him hardening their heart during that time would be like yelling at them to stop, it would be stupid.

Though I could see Him hardening their heart because of their sins, thus the hardening still results from their own decisions, but the hardening is governed by God, following that you reap what you sow.

I do agree with you, but I do not see, knowing what I know of Christ in my relationship with Him now, hardening people's heart for no reason. The sole cause of the reasons would involve be the result of that person's own disobedience and sin.

The Glory of God ,
great question Sunlover
it seems Jesus was going to Glorify [Honour,] His Father
God along with Himself is HIS DEATH!! being the last enemy

Jhn 21:19 This spake he, signifying [SIGN]by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me. He was going to die at the hands[works] of sinners ....

in the prayer of Jesus in John 17
Jhn 17:1¶These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
Jhn 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

being SPIRIT and truth all along ,

and His flesh honored for we eat His flesh and drink His blood [that we may have HIS Life in us , the pure sacrifice the Lamb of GOD whom takes away the sins of the world
Peace

..Hbr 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

How do you feel when you see a breathtaking landscape? It's awesome isn't it? It's my belief that the glory of God is reflected in His creation, and that when we get to see the fullness of His glory it will be an experience much greater than anything we can experience here.

Remember Moses? God caused His glory to pass before him and it was so intense that his face was shining when he came down from the mountain.

How about one word to describe The Glory of God:

HOLINESS!!!!

His love is holy love
His justice is holy justice
His mercy is holy mercy
His knowledge is holy knowledge
His Spirit is holy spirit

the list goes on......

“But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves.” (1 Peter 1:15)

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified." (Rom 8:28-30)

The glory of the power of His Christ manifested. I know Christ in us IS our hope of glory. I regard it as the very fulness of His presence, even the power of His glory revealed (or manifest) in us.

I know theres inexpressible joy in His presence but I would venture to say (or dare to hope) for THE FULNESS of Him (Who is our peace) and the exceeding Joy we who love Him have in Him.

The Joy OF "The Lord" is our STRENGTH I believe its the maxed out (or rather maginified) version of all His glorious goodness, joy and power we have but tasted concerning Him.

Dont think I could word it without making it LESS then what I have imagined. He can do far above what we can think or imagine but my words would do Him an injustice.

The beauty of His glorious presence, thats my only desire.

Basically, in the Bible glory signifies the expression of God. Whenever God is expressed, that is glory. The expression of God is God glorified. Therefore, to say that God is glorified simply means that He is expressed.

When the Lord Jesus was on earth, He was God incarnate. He did not come as God expressed; He came as God concealed. God was concealed within the physical body of the Lord Jesus. Inwardly there was God; outwardly there was the flesh. With this flesh there was no glory. According to John 17, when the Lord Jesus was about to die, He prayed, “Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son that the Son may glorify You” (v. 1). In John 17:5 the Lord went on to say, “And now, glorify Me with Yourself, Father, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.” In His prayer the Lord seemed to be saying, “Father, now is the time for You to glorify Your Son. Father, let Your Son glorify You. The disciples have not yet fully seen what Your Son is and what You are in Me. Father, You are concealed, and I am hidden. For this reason I pray that You will glorify Your Son so that Your Son may glorify You.”

We may use the blossoming of a carnation flower as an illustration of what it means for the Lord Jesus to be glorified. A carnation seed does not have any glory. After a carnation seed is sown into the earth, the seed dies and then it begins to grow up. It sprouts, it grows into a plant, and eventually it blossoms. This blossoming is the glorification of the carnation seed. Because a carnation seed dies when it is sown into the soil, we may say that its blossoming is its resurrection. Glorification, therefore, is equal to resurrection. The sprouting of the carnation seed is the beginning, the initial, stage of resurrection. The further growth of the carnation plant is the continuation of the process of resurrection. But the blossoming of the carnation flower is resurrection in its fullness.

When the Lord Jesus prayed that the Father would glorify Him, He actually prayed that He would enter into glory through death and resurrection. In Luke 24:26 the Lord Jesus asked the two disciples on the way to Emmaus: “Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?” When the Lord Jesus spoke these words, He was already in resurrection. Thus, for Him to enter into His glory was for Him to be in resurrection. This verse reveals clearly that Christ’s glorification was His resurrection. The Lord’s resurrection was His blossoming. Christ’s blossoming, His glorification, refers to His resurrection in its fullness.

This question was mentioned in another thread, and
it's something I have given a bit of thought to

How would you describe The Glory of God?

In my opinion.....

The Glory of God is God's response to being self consciousness. God's self glory beyond our comprehension.

That is God's personal glory.

Now? There is a glory of a kingdom. The glory of victory. The glory of love, etc.

God takes glory in all he does. God is always having glory in who and what he is.
His personal glory is simply being fully aware of all he is. Its an unspeakable glory.

Outside of his personal glory? Glory can also mean various other things, as well, as in.. "Those were glorious days." Yet, God's glory for us to behold is never ending.... We will never become bored of God.

We will behold God's glory. As in the glory we experience as we watch a wonderful, magnificent, sunset. That aspect of glory is the effect God will have on our souls. God's effect on us will be magnified millions of times more than any glory we can now know. That's why we will first need a resurrection body.

The bodies we have now could not handle it. What we perceive would turn to fear, even terror; rather than glory.

That is why God had to come in the form of Christ. As one of us. He lowered himself as to reveal who and what he is on our terms.

Next phase in our salvation will be to lift us up to the highest knowable level in all creation, so that we can experience the glory of God in a manner that no other in creation can be privileged to look upon.

Grace and peace, GeneZ

Let us bear wittness to the Glory of God!

All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, but He does according to His will in the Host of heaven and among the inhabitants of earth; and no one can ward off His hand or say to Him, "What hast Thou done" (Daniel 4:35)

The Lord has made everything for its own purpose, even the wicked for the day of evil (Proverbs 16:4).

The potter has a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honor, and another for dishonor (Romans 9:21).

No one speaks and it comes to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it. It is from the mouth of the Most High that both good and evil go forth. No living mortal, or any man, should offer complaint in view of his sins (Lam. 3:37-39).

He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires (Romans 9:18).

There is no one besides the Lord. He is the Lord, and there is no other, the One forming light and creating darkness, causing well being and creating calamity [Hebrew: "ra" = evil]. He is the Lord who does all these (Isaiah 45:6).

No one can resist His will (Romans 9:19).

Not even Satan !

You said...

Satan is one of Gods creations that God created to be resistant....

This is a total fabrication. It doesn't come from The Church. It is not taught by Christians.

This is what came to my mind, also. Remember that Moses had to cover his face because it shone so brightly that the Israelites could not look at him. WOW!

Hey Content!

Some studies, Biblical of course, suggest that if you actually were to experience a prolonged exposure to His glory and presence that your body begins to realign the cells and it becomes close to perfect, given that our bodies nowadays can only be so perfect, but yea...

Kind of explains why you feel the way you feel after church service... His presence is such a wonderful thing!
