The Bible often uses the same terms to describe the character traits of God as it does to describe the character traits of God's law, which is because it is God's instructions for how to express His character traits, such as with it being holy, righteous, and good (Romans 7:12), or with justice, mercy, and faithfulness being weightier matters of the law (Matthew 23:23). God's law is also God's instructions for how to worship Him, so when we worship Him through expressing His character traits through our actions, we are becoming more like Christ.

What does "You become what you worship" mean?

It sounds (to me) like where Jesus said,
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth,

where moth and rust destroy and
where thieves break in and steal;​

but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,

where neither moth nor rust destroys and
where thieves do not break in and steal. ​

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV

2 Corinthians 3:12-18

People use different frameworks or different perceptions of what the Bible is telling us about God's character. While some can read certain passages and see God as love, mercy, and grace.....others can read the same passage and see God as angry, distant, and violent (and so - they treat others in that same way....becoming just like that angry, distant, violent god they worship).

That is why we are told to fix our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2) ...
that we might become more like Him.
