Leadership is a popular word in Christian circles these days. Unfortunately, most Christian writing on leadership assumes a secular model - someone who exercises authority over others. But that does not reflect the very radical nature of the NT.
In NT times there were many Greek words available for leadership - lord, master, plus military and government terms. Yet these were never used within the new community of God's people. Instead, the language of the lowest class - servants - was used.
This is why Jesus stated very clearly
Matt 20:25-28 You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." NIV
God exists as Trinity, a co-equal community. That life within His community will reflect the indwelling Trinity, of mutuality. Unfortunately, we have used a worldly model, and thereby failed to model a style of leadership that the world desperately needs.
