So I'll start off by saying I am not judging these type of people per say, just looking for advice on the issue.
What do you think of parents who are super protective about their kids to the point of they shelter and bubble them from the world? Like they have strict dress codes, have very limited tv rules (like no worldly shows, just dvds of christian stuff), say words like heck, shoot and drat are swearing and bad. Who call anything remotely worldly evil like a G rated movie trailer.
In my experience it seems like 80% of the kids I seen who were bubbled have now turned into adults who are rebels and in many cases not even calling themselves christian anymore. Where as kids like myself who weren't super bubbled maybe had a rebel phase when younger, but as an adult did the opposite of those kids and are down to earth and strong in their walk with Christ.
Where does one draw the line between bubbled and letting them have a small taste of the world? My parents let me play Mortal Kombat (the old ones from the 90s) at 10 I think. Well more so I lied to them about what was in it. I seen my first R rated movie at 12 I believe.
I also seem to notice bubbled kids often lack alot of social skills as adults. The ones that don't rebel say polite things like "Yes mam" and "Thank you sir" but often seem like they are out of place and awkward amongst other adults. Usually from only being allowed to see other bubbled kids.
I do realize bubble parents aren't super common much anymore, but I still shake my head when I see it. You can try to raise them to be protected from the world, but eventually they will get a taste of it no matter what and when they do, all bets are off (as the saying goes). Being married I often think about how I will raise my kids. I want to raise them better than my parents did me, but not into bubbled territory.
Sorry if this topic is all over the place or has no real point. Its almost 5am and I'm so tired lol.
