What do you suppose is the mark of the beast?

The mark is related to what we think and believe....and the actions that stems from those thoughts and beliefs.

Most of us have taken the mark already and just dont know..... And most will die with the mark because we are looking for machines and barcodes, instead of something that is already present.

Was probably the secret gospel of Mark. It was so provocative that people were tattooing the text on their right hands and foreheads.

There could be no literal marks or many literal marks. “The beast” is symbolic of human government which has set itself against God. “The mark” symbolizes ownership - that the beast owns us and we have an allegiance to the beast. It need not be one literal mark. It could be entirely symbolic or express itself in many literal marks.

Hi the context of the mark of the beast is Rev 13 and 2 Thes 2 and also Dan 7. Rev 13 happens after rev 6 where the rider on the white horse is coming conquering to conquer and by chapter 13 he has now dominion over every tribe tongue kindred and nation for exactly 42 months and then is led to Armageddon. The mark in chapter 13 will come after the events in chapter 6 where a global crisis bring wages to a days wage for a quart of wheat and peace is taken from the earth that men will kill one another and by these and the beasts 1/4 of the earth has already died off. Then the beast given power by the dragon survives a mortal wound and performs lying signs and wonders that will deceive most. This is when the false prophet rolls out the image and mark of the beast. This is when the abomination of desolation occurs as Dan noted in chapter 9 in the middle of the week the sacrifices are stopped and that too would leave 42 months to go. After the mark is instituted he persecute both Christians and Jews and Dan 7 notes this is what the pompous one is doing for again 42 months (a time times and half a time)
All of these guys are the same guy and destroyed at the brightness of the 2nd coming of Jesus to take the throne of David and be king over all the earth.
Now what is the mark? It will likely be something that can track you and an ID and your digital wallet. To get one you must worship the beast and you will be choosing a clear side as chapter 13 notes he causes all to also worship the dragon. So it is not just a chip apart from the other events mentioned in these chapters.

Another angle that may apply (speculative) -- if there is a very powerful cult of personality, then the followers/believers in that 'great leader' would be willing to have a kind of dress or decoration or mark or whatever that would show they are faithful followers of that leader in that cult of personality. It would be about group membership in that cult, even if the cult is a majority obsession. They could refuse to do business with someone that didn't show that following that great leader of the cult. ... Or, it could be even more sinister (if that's possible), or more subtle. It won't be merely something like money/credit cards/transaction tag or such tho I'm guessing because those are all just forms of money in a way, and forms of money aren't really a new thing.

@[SIZE=6][B]Hämmster[/B][/SIZE]...The mark of the beast is prophesy still to be completed in the future...it is not ancient history already finished (we are still all here on this earth so that simply isnt even logical).

John in the book of Revelation is specifically talking about end times. So to say, the mark of the beast is already past is a complete misunderstanding of the entire book of Revelation.

I note another poster here claims Daniel and Revelation do not go together in this prophesy...that is also a porky. Parts of the book of Daniel are absolutely relevant to end times in Revelation...the angel in Daniels vision concerning end times even told Daniel "But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge." (Daniel 12:9)

Anyone with a study Bible can easily look to the cross referencing in said bible and find the following references for Daniel 12:9
- Revelation 5:1, 10:4, 22:10
-Isaiah 8:6, 11:9, 29:11, 29:18
- Daniel 8:17, 8:26, 10:14

and a whole lot more references.

The interesting thing about the books of Daniel and Revelation is that these two are classic examples of the concept of "type" vs "anti-type". They are parrallel books in many ways when it comes to prophesy.

The same is true of Jesus prophesy about the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D 70. This also refers to the very distant future (long after A.D. 70) of the time of the end too.

Spiritual Israel is another example of type and antitype...saved Christians are Gods future chosen people (called spiritual Israel) and the original type for this is obviously the Children of Israel/Jews led up out of Egypt. Originally, they were charged with taking the gospel to all the world, however, they failed in that task and so God gave it to the Gentiles to fulfill instead.

the mark in our minds and our hands is somewhat metaphorical. It is talking about our thoughts AND actions.

If you recall the bible text Matthew 7:19 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20So then, by their fruit you will recognize them. 21Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven"

Nor is anyone extorted into getting it.
