So, what's the alternative to forsaking God's will to serve your own? Will your wife's health improve because you've rejected God? Will you become a millionaire by turning your back on God? Will your job issues resolve now that you've spurned your Maker? I very much doubt it. But now that you've cast off your Creator, what does your wife's suffering mean? Nothing. It's just pointless misery, serving no purpose whatever. Your money and job problems are also just empty difficulties that afflict you aimlessly and from which nothing of lasting value can be drawn. Without God, the sickness, tragedy and death we all suffer are utterly futile and worthless experiences.

A life centered upon God, though, finds eternal purpose and meaning in the most difficult of circumstances. Sickness, tragedy and death are important tools God uses to work in us an "exceeding and eternal weight of glory."

BUt, I get why these truths fade in importance in the face of unrelieved difficulties. Pain, and stress, and fear can crowd around mercilessly and quickly drain the light and joy from life. God would use these inevitable and unavoidable times of suffering to accomplish His perfect and everlasting purposes in our lives. But, if we are determined that, if He will not alleviate our hurt, He must be denied, then we are left to navigate the storms of life alone, unsupported by God's divine comfort and strength. Is this a better alternative to crowding up close to God and trusting Him? I don't see how.

When I go through this experience, the best thing I can do is to worship and praise God. I remind myself that God is worthy and I am not. God knows better than I do and he loves me. I submit to God and admit that my desires, strong as they are, are wrong. Then I ask God to make me a man after his own heart, to love what God loves and hate what God hates.

I am truly sorry you have faced such difficult circumstances. God is love and light, He is ready to fill you with this love but life can be hard. Overcoming, it seems is what is asked of us. Although things may look bleak at times we are to look to the unseen, filled with God's word, calling things which are not as though they were. It was after a bleak period that my father, who was a minister, had to return from his ministry to bury my mom's mother. Her dad had a series of strokes and left him with an altered mental state and he wss paralyzed. Then my family's long time friend became very sick so my parents prayed but he died anyway. We came back from thousands of miles away so we could be close to my grandpa who no longer knew us. My dad started digging deeper into his faith, looking for answers. I went in the Army and later returned on leave to find my dad literally illumined. I do not understand all of the sorrows in life but I know God is real! God is love and light, Jesus is the word made flesh and we can overcome when filled with the Christ's love and light. Be blessed, get the word in you, realize the love is in you. My heart aches for you and all who suffer.Commentary on “The Light”

What is it that you were truly chasing? To know God and to live for Him? Or to get the problems fixed so then you will trust him?
Why do you blame God to be responsible for the hardships that you are praying for him to remove?

You asked what you should do...well, I would advise that you take a step back and begin looking at your intentions.
Father can fix things, but you have to set your own ways aside and let him show you, which begins in the heart. Is it really God your losing faith in Or is it Faith in Something else?

We live in a fallen world.. God.. Christ came to give us life and give it more abundantly. Gods plan? Delight your self in the lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. What ever you ask the Father He will do.. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. herefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Sometimes we think GOD is doing something where its not Him but the enemy. The enemy come to kill steal and destroy. There are THOUSANDS of promises in Gods word for you.

Forgive me if I get sick of any kind.. its not of God...never came from Him and I wont be "suffering for Christ". There are Christians in Iraq Iran China N Korea and other places that SUFFER for Christ. He was pierced for our transgressions He was crushed for our sins The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him And by His wounds, by His wounds we are healed.

He said.. if you know the Father hears you you KNOW you have the petitions/prayers you asked for. For GODS WILL is HIS word. If we doubt..let not that man think he will get anything from God.

Short.. when my boy was about 4.. had a really bad fall.. the ambulance never left.. the door open and he said "hes not responding to anything" I turned and said "Father I will never blame you"... the door opens and hes almost shouting "hes resounding!". My Father had nothing what so ever to do what what happen.. my Father got all the GLORY out of it!

We need to KNOW what what the Father is.. who and what we are through and in Him. Not what MAN says we are.. not what I say.. but what that word says. Praise Him worship Him in the storm. No matter how dark it is .. worshiping Him praise Him.. knowing that this is but a moment and the morning is IS COMING! Trust in have faith in HIM that what is happening is NOT OF HIM! The enemy is trying to rob you.

Isa 41 10 a promise to you "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.". Cast ALL your care on Him. See when doubt.. as it was when He went into a town.. all He could was lay hands on a few and teach because of doubt.

A simple pray HELP! Its knowing that no matter what it looks like sounds like feels like.. its KNOWING when you said HELP..KNOW HE HEARD YOU! KNOW He will answer..KNOW He WILL make a way out. To many times WE try to fix it. JESUS IS REAL! And has never left you..its WILL get brighter.. better so much better...this IS what He does..its what He WANTS to do.. again we get lied to that THIS Is what GOD wants for us... I as others will be praying.. not hoping it will change.. but it WILL CHANGE! Morning is coming!

I prayed and prayed that God's plans for me which I don't want don't happen to me.
In the events that they still happen, it is my prayers that I remain faithful towards God.
After all, God creates me. He has the right to deal with me as He wants.

I am going to pray that God will lift your burdens off of your shoulder, and give you rest from your troubles (In Jesus name, Amen).

You can pray the same for yourself.

Job had a time of extreme hardship but also a time of rest and abundance. So did the nation of Israel. I understand that you desire to enter into a season of rest right now. Perhaps you even need that rest in order to recuperate, refresh, and recharge, so that you can face life's trials again adequately.

You have my sympathy, given that your situation is severe, as you described in another thread. God knows that too, so cry out to Him, and He will hear you.

Hold it now on what basis do you claim God's plan is for you to, as you say, to go through EVERY situation you have prayed for decades to avoid? Yes we're to submit to the will of God but first of all I'm not convinced you know this thus you might be becoming offended at God based on a delusion.

Well let's just assume you're right about what his plan is. You say you don't want his plan. YES YOU DO! God knows you BETTER than you know yourself. You've acknowledged that God exists. How could you possibly be convinced that someone with omniscience wouldn't be smarter than you? There are many times in life where people didn't think they needed something or wanted something! And yet they later discovered they did.

So now we're seeing your mindset.....just what you envisions God does. You might want to consider a different way of thinking in regard to just what God does or doesn't do. So you're claiming God gave you or yours health problems. Has those thing really come from God or is it rather because of a fallen world we live in a world where one needs to rise up with the Name of Jesus and take authority over some of those things you mentioned?

What do I do? Well I'd stop thinking I am such a hot shot strutting across the stage of time and think I can live independently from him. I'd stop thinking I EVER could truly be happy without trying my best to get in his will.

IF it wasn't part of the plan it WOULD NOT HAPPEN. It all happens with his foreknowledge. Omniscient, remember? Therefore, He, at the very least, chose not to stop it. That makes this His plan. He could just as easily said, "No, that won't happen." He didn't.

To me, it is meaningless misery WITH God. It is utterly futile and worthless. I don't care what it is for (chastisement, my own good, God's glory, to position me to help others, etc., doesn't matter). The only purpose this is working for to drive any positive feeling I have for God from me. If that is the plan, it is succeeding perfectly.

Your feelings are validated. We are human beings with limitations. There were many times in the past in which I felt that my trials were not commensurate with my strength...I still feel like that sometimes.

God may just be waiting for you to cry out to Him for help. He wants you to seek His face. Just be honest with Him and tell Him you want Him to lift your burdens off of your shoulder. You cannot force yourself to want God's will. But you can ask Him to change your heart and thinking, for the Holy Spirit (and not you) to do the work of conforming them.

    Reflect on this prayer today:

1 Chronicles 4:10 "Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, 'Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.' And God granted his request."

Ask God to reveal to you why He answered Jabez' prayer.

Well see right there you've demonstrated you're offended at God based on a delusion. Something that's not really true. There is something that was according to his plan BUT it's not what you think.

Even with the belief of foreknowledge that doesn't mean what occurs to you was his plan.

No it doesn't! If you want to know what his plan was here it is. That humans would have free will to choose their destinies. Free will was the plan...not the actual choices. Men reap what the sow period for their own sinful activity. And men reap what they sow based on the curse that is on the physical earth due to the fall. The curse is the degeneration of life and it was not God's plan, will or desire that men become subjected to it.

So, God can't say, "No" to the bad things? He is responsible anyway you want to go. He knew what the result of giving us the choice would be. He chose to proceed anyway. His plan was for billions upon billions to go to Hell, since he chose to let us have a choice. "Free will" is more correctly termed "the illusion of free will". Free will is impossible with an omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent God with plans. His plan (which will happen) includes the choices you WILL make (otherwise his plan would be wrong, which is impossible). Your fate was sealed and measured out before your 1000x great-grandfather was a half formed thought in his father's eye (Ephesians 1:4, "According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world.."). It is all his plan (Ephesian 1:11 "being predesitinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will")

God cares about you. God does not care about property. God does not care about idolized bonds. God does not care about you trying to use Him so you can be God of your life. If the shoe doesn't fit you, it sure fits me.

Jesus is able to keep us from falling and present us with exceeding joy to the Father, but trying to control the earthly aspects of our lives on a constant basis, and using prayer as a means to do it is in essence making the needle the parabolic camel needs to fit through smaller.

I recall being taught bad things in the past, like I could use scripture to control God, but this isn't so. God let's us sow seeds, and then He lets us reap what we sow. If we aren't allowed to make mistakes ... we don't learn.

So what do you do? take the faith you have, and cultivate it to mature to surrender, this is the thread that reaches through the eye of the needle ... sometimes you need to gather the threads between your fingers so they gather together as one.

And if he did are you saying you wouldn't be complaining all through eternity that God wasn't good for he didn't even allow us to see what we could do independently from him?

Nope not his plan regardless of how many time you want to assert that it was.

Because God knows things that means all things taking place was his plan? You talk like it's self evident. I say far from it. Now omnipotent....because you're physically stronger than a person does that mean you control them? If not why do you put that upon God? You probably don't believe might makes right for a person....why would you claim God has to ensure his might is used to force you into compliance.

Now multiply your problems by the loss of two of your children.
Then add the fact that God has given you undeniable proof that he is.
Also you have had miraculous experiences throughout your life.

So you know he is real and still he allows you to be hurt. Now you are me.

I could turn from him and take the pain of this life alone. But, that helps no one, not my family, not my friends, and surely not me.

So I cling to my God and the strong love that I have for him and keep walking this rocky road. There is no alternative to those who truly believe

No, because there would be nothing else to have a clue about being apart from him.

He chose His people "before the foundation of the Earth". BEFORE the fall, he knew who was going to end up with him, and conversely who would not. He knew billions upon billions, whole civilizations and groups, would deny him and burn in Hell BEFORE he started the Earth. He chose to go ahead with His plans which He KNEW would result in those people suffering for eternity.

Because he A) knows ahead of time, B) has the power to act, and C) doesn't act to stop it, yes, it is His plan. If he doesn't have A), then he isn't omniscient (FALSE). If he doesn't have B), he isn't omnipotent (FALSE). So all that is left is His saying yes to what is going to happen (C). It is His will that I am going through this. He has the choice to say, "No." In addition we know He isn't reactive, he is proactive. Joseph is and example of this.

God created us for the purpose of carrying out his plan and it will be accomplished whether we want it or not. Submission might be hard but in the end it is the only way to lasting peace and happiness.

Oh I see. So you're thinking that God should have created a bunch of robots without any capacity to envision anything except that which they're programed with. No choice to love or not love God....just a mere automaton.
