What controversial beliefs do you hold?

I voted none. I believe in the Holy Bible and believe it should be our guide during this short life here on earth. Some people actually consider this to be controversial.

It always dangerous to assume your views are always the views of the Bible. That's where it gets controversial.

I haven't stated any views for you to object to, unless you object to the Holy Bible being our guide. I don't believe in what's listed in the poll if you view one or more of them as true. I do believe that my beliefs are supported by the Holy Bible, so you can object to that, but without any grounds. You have some guesses and that's about all.

Was there a reason you left out the growing modern adoptions of the ancient controversies such as the Deity of Christ and His Bodily Resurrection? That seems to be gaining popularity and not only in modern denominations.

I can only have so many options on a poll so I decided to go with what I thought were the most common.

By voting none, you stated that you didn't believe any of the above views listed right? So you are assuming that those ideas are unbiblical? If I'm wrong feel free to say so. But saying you have no controversial views is, well, a bit controversial. I mean, everyone's views are controversial to someone.

Someone disagreeing with me doesn't make my view controversial. If everyone disagrees with me, I might have to do some more checking. I disagree with you, so we'll have to agree to disagree. I believe in Sola Scriptura, Tota Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Sola Christus, Sol Deo Gloria, the Inerrancy of Scripture, the All-Sufficiency of Scripture.

In these days, especially what I have found on this website, that is pretty controversial.

I checked "other." I believe that the large majority of people today calling themselves Christians, disciples of Christ, are no such thing.

Lots of people believe in the five solas, including me. I don't think this is controversial at all:

What are the five solas?

Question: "What are the five solas?"

Answer: The five solas are five Latin phrases popularized during the Protestant Reformation that emphasized the distinctions between the early Reformers and the Roman Catholic Church. The word sola is the Latin word for “only” and was used in relation to five key teachings that defined the biblical pleas of Protestants. They are:

1. Sola scriptura: “Scripture alone”
2. Sola fide: “faith alone”
3. Sola gratia: “grace alone”
4. Solo Christo: “Christ alone”
5. Soli Deo gloria: “to the glory of God alone”

Each of these solas can be seen both as a corrective to the excesses of the Roman Catholic Church at the start of the Reformation and as a positive biblical declaration.

Sola scriptura emphasizes the Bible alone as the source of authority for Christians. By saying, “Scripture alone,” the Reformers rejected both the divine authority of the Roman Catholic Pope and confidence in sacred tradition. Only the Bible was “inspired by God” (2 Peter 1:20-21) and “God-breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Anything taught by the Pope or in tradition that contradicted the Bible was to be rejected. Sola scriptura also fueled the translation of the Bible into German, French, English, and other languages, and prompted Bible teaching in the common languages of the day, rather than in Latin.

Sola fide emphasizes salvation as a free gift. The Roman Catholic Church of the time emphasized the use of indulgences (donating money) to buy status with God. Good works, including baptism, were seen as required for salvation. Sola fide stated that salvation is a free gift to all who accept it by faith (John 3:16). Salvation is not based on human effort or good deeds (Ephesians 2:9).

Sola gratia emphasizes grace as the reason for our salvation. In other words, salvation comes from what God has done rather than what we do. Ephesians 2:8-9 teaches, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Solo Christo (sometimes listed as Solus Christus, “through Christ alone”) emphasizes the role of Jesus in salvation. The Roman Catholic tradition had placed church leaders such as priests in the role of intercessor between the laity and God. Reformers emphasized Jesus’ role as our “high priest” who intercedes on our behalf before the Father. Hebrews 4:15 teaches, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Jesus is the One who offers access to God, not a human spiritual leader.

Soli Deo gloria emphasizes the glory of God as the goal of life. Rather than striving to please church leaders, keep a list of rules, or guard our own interests, our goal is to glorify the Lord. The idea of soli Deo gloria is found in 1 Corinthians 10:31: “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

The five solas of the Protestant Reformation offered a strong corrective to the faulty practices and beliefs of the time, and they remain relevant today. We are called to focus on Scripture, accept salvation by grace through faith, magnify Christ, and live for God’s glory.

It seems to me that "Controversial" beliefs/theology refers to something truly unconventional, not just something that Catholics agree with but Protestants don't...or vice-versa. To my mind at least, the belief has to be something that's seen as dubious by Christians generally.

Good points Albion. Much of that list above would be controversial in one denomination but not in another. For example it is controversial NOT to support women clergy in the UMC.

Well, my controversial beliefs, from what I understand, are:

Young Earth creation,
A talking serpent, that was Satan,
Existence of Giants before and after the flood.
The tribulation is still to come,
Pre tribulation Rapture of the Church
A millennial reign of Christ,
A literal Hell that is for eternity for those who don't accept who Christ.

Sounds like sound theology. (Although I'm not familiar with Tota Scriptura.) Based on the offerings in Christian bookstores, most of those beliefs are mainstream. This website encompasses a broad spectrum. Some beliefs found here aren't represented in typical Christian bookstores.

Since you said this isn't for debate...

I believe the NT was written to Israel in the nations, a people in captivity and that the main weight (not exclusive weight) of Messiah's mission was on turning the hearts of the exiles back to God.

I also believe the parable of the prodigal son is about Judah (older brother) and Ephraim (younger brother).

I also believe science demands messiah be God and that Adam and Eve were most likely darker skinned.

I must not be visiting the same bookstores as you. I do find some truth in Christian bookstores, but unfortunately I find very large resources of false teachings and absolutely heretical teachings be sold by "Christian" bookstores.

I agree. My problem is probably the title of this website. It main include "Christian" worldview, but this website also promotes many non-Christian worldviews as Christian. But since I don't own this website, I have no control over that, it is just very sad that so many false teachings are promoted on this website as "Christian" when clearly they are not.

HI I am including some of the conspiracy events that I believe are not what we have been told and think they fit as these events are so called false flag events and do have a political objective. The political world intersects with the prophetic realm of end times and effects what nations do or do not do and creates a consensus of the governed for things like war and gun confiscation.
I believe the lunar landings were a hoax.
I believe 9/11 was an inside job
Sandy Hook and Boston Marathon both were staged as was the shooting at the Pulse nightclub

Past history shows that events have been staged and or planned with the purposes I have stated. The gulf of Tonkin was used to get involved in Viet Nam and a staged event. The sinking of the Maine and the Lusitania also were staged events the main sank from a mechanical failure and was used as propaganda and the Lusitania was warned it was a target and carrying military equipment. Churchill pulled back the escort and the English had already cracked the German code and knew the whereabouts of the German U boats. On and on since the worlds bankers fund both sides of every war there is a connection to events being managed even to the point of self destruction for most of the human race. This is where we wrestle not against flesh and blood but powers and principalities in high places. Psalm 2 speaks of the nations raging and the leaders taking counsel together against the Lord and his anointed. Daniel speaks of the man of sin (antichrist) understanding sinister schemes and causing deceit to prosper and that he will destroy many in their prosperity. Things are being put in place to cause a global collapse and then bring in a global government. All of these ideas are part of the deception and we are moving as a mother in labor where the pain is getting more intense and the contractions are very close together. We are on the cusp of the 70th week of Daniel, the time of Jacob's trouble, the 7 year great tribulation.

The end-time beliefs seem mainstream Baptist. No?
Young earth creation is (sadly) controversial. I hold it too.

As for a literal and eternal hell, that is controversial. (Once again, sadly.)
In reading a book (Whatever Happened to Hell?), I discovered that
there are those who take eternal as symbolic, but the fire as literal. While there
are others who take the fire as symbolic, but eternity as literal. I take both as literal.
