I think Dicrapio is way overrated.
Bale though is one of the best I agree.

Undecided on Murphy.

I kind of agree with you on DiCaprio, but he always picks great mvoies to be in. To me it's less about how good of an actor they are (even though I think they are all great actors) and more about what kind of movies they choose to be in, and they all have a good track record.

Leo's got Inception, Titanic, Catch Me if You Can, and Shutter Island, The Departed, The Man in the Iron Mask, Blood Diamond, and The Quick and the Dead.

Bale's got The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Terminator Slavation, The Machinist, The Illusionist, The Fighter, and American Psyhcho

and Murphy's got Batman Begins, The Wind that Shakes the Barley, 28 Days Later, Red Eye, and Inception.

Whenever you go into a theater and these one of their names in the opening credits, you know that more than likely it will be a good movie.

I mostly like the old timers like John Wayne, Steve McQueen, Robert Mitchum, Lee Marvin, Robert Duvall, etc.

I like some new actors as well:

Jim Caviezel (Count of Monte Cristo, The Passion of the Christ)

Christian Bale

Robert Carlyle (To End All Wars)

Kiefer Sutherland

Yeah, DiCaprio gets top billing in Hollywood these days, I just don't see why that is...He's friends with Scorsese and Spielberg that has something to do with it, but hes definitely no De Niro or Pacino, I don't see much talent myself.

Hubby and I both have favorite thespians, but we don't neccessarily watch every movie or TV show that they are in. Here's a short list:

Clark Gable - first ever crush  and the best looking man who EVER lived or EVER will live PERIOD. I can get lost by just looking at his picture. He is the standard by which all men's looks are judged by.
Tyrone Power
Errol Flynn
Laurence Olivier

James Stewart
James Earl Jones
Elizabeth Taylor - RIP
Christian Bale
Tim Curry, Alec Guinness, Michael Caine
Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Maggie Smith
Johnny Depp, Robert Downey, Jr.
Sean Connery, Daniel Craig, Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, Judy Dench, Christopher Lee
Angela Lansbury - she is incredible in The Manchurian Candidate
Elijah Wood (been following him since he was a little kid)
Dwayne Johnson  - good looking Miami Hurricane, and surprisingly talented for a former wrestler
John Candy
Dan Aykroyd
Eddie Murphy
Chevy Chase
Beverly D'Angelo
Christine Taylor (first saw in the Nick series Hey Dude)

Notice any trends :p

For my mother it's definately Mark Hamil (Luke Skywalker).
